Kids party in a hall

We are just organising a party in a hall for our soon to be 4 year old. We have a bouncy castle, didi cars and those weird rubber hopper things.

Has anyone got anything else for a hall party that's worked really well / is a bit different?

We've looked at soft play hires but they all seem a bit babyish... we will have some younger kids though so might just have to suck it up and spend £100 on some bits of foam Grin

if you are in the market for bits of foam for £100 then I’d 100% get a disco and disco person for the same cost! They are great at coralling the kids, sorting games, choosing winners and losers without any problems and generally make life so much easier

You’ll need some sort of entertainer or party host or it’ll just end up being a free for all and a mass brawl! 😂 I went to one that was like that and it was a mass of tears and tantrums, pushing and shoving it was awful for all involved!

For a bit different you could get someone that does face paint, glitter tattoos etc or even hire a superhero!

I had a craft table- that and the bouncy castle with music was plenty to keep them entertained- food out- cake and home.
I had pass the parcel on standby but never had to use it- oh and keep plenty of random balloons out.

It was probably mine @Favouritefruits i tried with first party for my eldest, she’s now 13 and I’ve never been so out of control of a party in my entire life.

also top tip is to deflate the bouncy castle at meal time. Stops puking 👌🏻

Games as you will have lots of room to play in. (Even better if you can find someone with a large parachute!)
Craft/colouring table.
Lego table ( if you have or can borrow enough to make it worth it)

these are pretty normal ideas though, so might not have the wow you are looking for.

I hasn't even thought of a party host.... that could be an absolute winner!

I’m doing a petting zoo for DD’s birthday. We’re having cake and party food first with music, then he’s coming with all the small furries and reptiles and will teach the kiddos about them.

Muuuuch easier if you have an entertainer that knows what they’re doing and can corral the children into some sort of order. Otherwise it’s madness.

We did a craft table and sensory play type area. You can theme it to whatever the party theme is.

It went down a treat at DSs party as it helped the kids regulate themselves instead of whipping themselves into a frenzy on the bouncy castle/ play ground area.

Tape sheets of bubble wrap to the floor so they can pop it as they run over it.

I did a craft table at DS party recently along with bouncy castle and didi cars. All the kids did some colouring at some point, gave them a break from bouncing. You don't want too much going on, they'll get overwhelmed so something calming to balance out the bouncy castle is good.

LemonWaterSugar · 17/10/2023 20:13

Craft table sounds like a really good idea to calm things down... what did you guys do about mess? A massive sheet of tarpaulin? Then glue and paper and crayons and card type thing?

My son's 4th birth party was in a hall. Fab time. We got a magician who was great and i organised party games.
