Not sure if it's ts relevant but we initially booked it through AirBnB, but it's in a part of the world where unlicensed holiday lets are not allowed so AirBnB removed the listing, cancelled the booking and refunded our money. The owner then approached us direct offering to let it privately a bit cheaper. By this point flights etc for 10 people were all booked so we accepted.
We've just got back. The property was lovely, communication great all through it all, but we've just had a message to say a plant has been broken and asking for recompense, with a photo of a large, not very healthy looking houseplant, tucked right in the corner of a room, with one branch snapped off.
Now, no one in our party knows what happened to the plant, so that could mean we've all forgotten, no one noticed at the time, it was already broken or one of our group is lying. We'll never get to the bottom of that.
It is right in an out of the way corner so it's hard to think how it happened, but who knows?
Anyway, it's a plant, it will grow back, the monetary value is low, I'm not convinced an AirBnB owner will replace a neglectled plant that's tucked out of the way anyway and in any case isn't some minor accidental damage expected as part of your business costs when you run this kind of business.
The group is split, about half would just pay up to be done with it, the others think it's all a bit of a cheek. He's asking for £30, which seems outrageous but it's only £3 each.
WWYD?
