Two soups! Do you have a soup maker? Is it good?

I’m no amateur in the kitchen and can easily make soup, but a couple of my friends say these are better than your usual home-made with a blender stick
do you have one and do we use it -which type do you have?

I make soup weekly, different recipes and never had a soup maker. I either use my stick blender or my blender which is very good, wasn’t cheap but been worth the investment. I’m done with gadgets for specific recipes, good pans, blender, mixer, slow cooker & waffle maker. I enjoy cooking and the kids love chopping, softening the veg etc.

I love mine, it's by Neo.

I have chronic health issues and I physically can't stand in the kitchen chopping veg anymore so I buy prechopped soup mix bags and just throw them in with cold water and stock cubes and let it do its thing. I mostly use the smooth soup function on it and I'm not often a fan of chunky soups.

It uses less money than my hob for making it, and if I forget about it (which is very likely with me) it's no big deal as it turns itself off at the end of the programme so it's very handy for that.

It's not too bad to clean, certainly easier than the mess I make with pots and blenders (I can't use a hand one).

You have to precook any meat with mine but I've done lovely cream of chicken soup in it by just using precooked chicken then adding the cream once it was finished.

Mine has just broken and I'm hugely missing it so am going to replace it. I use it every other day in winter and once a week the rest of the time. I make pasta sauce (tomato and veg) in it too and it gets it so smooth. I love that I can bung stuff in as I'm cooking dinner or doing work or whatever and then 20 mins later I've got perfect soup. A prompt rinse makes for easy cleaning too and I'm not having to clear up soup splatters off the backsplash and hob!!

I had one. But the soup I make now in a regular pot is just as good. My mother was the queen of soup and didn't have any fancy equipment, just a pot and a blender.

I think it probably depends on how good you were at soup in the first place doesn't it?

For me, I rarely made it pre soup maker, and when I did make it, I'd go all out with roasting veg, sautéing onions, made a complete mess of the hob as well as the tiles, create loads of washing up, and made it into such a big deal I couldn't be arsed doing it very often.

My partner makes Borscht which you couldn't do in a soup maker as it seems to involve many pans and many many steps in order to create something that's less nice than a soup made in my soup maker.

I had one and gave it away. I make soup all the time but I couldn't make enough in my soup maker.
