Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot. I slept late this morning after going to watch the Eras Tour film with the girls last night. We had so much fun, although the audience were mostly quiet & no-one had bracelets to swap 😢 On the plus side, we have a good start on bracelets to trade next year!

We're having a lazy day today - not going anywhere or doing anything much. There are still school shirts to iron for dd2 though & I might wash the towels.

Dd1 has homework for college so she'll probably carry on with that, and dd2 has maths homework she needs some help with so I'll look at that with her.

Otherwise, I plan to spend the day pottering about, and maybe crafting. Could do with getting out in the front garden before it rains again, but maybe not today!

I've got gammon in the slow cooker for later. We'll decide what to have with it later on, when the girls are up. Usually it's eggs, chips, and beans.

Self care Sunday tonight - full scrubby shower, shave the bits that need it (not many since chemo!), file nails/toe nails and maybe paint them. Then either read some more of my book, or more crafting in front of the tv before an early night 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam glad you had a good time last night, what's the bracelet thing? DD is interested in going to the film.

Beautiful crisp autumn day here albeit cold. I've just hung the school shirts out on the line all 20 of them plus DH work shirts. Love to see them all flapping in the wind. Simple pleasures, although I feel keeping up with the laundry for 6 is a full time job!

I'm about to put a slow cooker curry on for dinner , finally remembered to lift out / defrost the chicken 😂

This afternoon we are off to a national trust place, they have an orchard so I'm hoping they will have apples for sale and there's also a second hand bookshop so might pick up a "new" book.

Self care Sunday evening of course. Not sure what I'll do. Maybe a bath, maybe cross stitch.

Have a lovely Sunday all!

Berninaa · 15/10/2023 10:55

Oh @Kim82, mentioning watching a film reminds me that we are watching episode 2 of Lessons in Chemistry tonight - I loved the book - its on AppleTV and we are saving each week's episode for Sunday evenings.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 15/10/2023 10:56

Wow, you're all putting me to shame with your productive Sundays!

We're still in PJs. Had a lie in, generally lounging and being lazy. I have some housework and weekly prep to do (after another coffee, perhaps) and I'll cook a roast later, but first up scrolling, lazing, playing with my DD.

We don't get to do this very often!

lucysmam · 15/10/2023 10:59

@ssd there's a line in the song 'You're On Your Own Kid' that says "make the friendship bracelets..." so someone did & it caught on as a thing to make & trade them. We've quite the collection of beads going on ('scuse the Adventure Camel, he sort of became my chemo mascot & goes everywhere with me 🙈)

Morning Lucy'sMam and everyone!

DH is in France doing a piano hobby club for the weekend. Back tonight.

Floof, all 8kgs of him slept on DD last night, it's like death by fluff, from 4am to 7am she was playing with him and now has just gone out to the gym. She will do some work for her A levels later.

Silkies and rabbit and Floof have all had breakfast. Floof played with me from 7am to 8.30am. Is now sleeping. Though as DD went out he did try for a sneaky second breakfast acting like he had not had his breakfast tuna.

DS is just gaming.

Just a lazy day really, may hoover some of Floors fur up, like painting the Forth Bridge that is, and maybe dinner with DH this evening and maybe a film.

I'm unwell and awaiting my Tuesday appointment with a consultant. I can't wait to get some answers or an idea of what's wrong. It's a long story but I'm basically on the 2 week cancer pathway (I'm almost certain it's not cancer) because I previously had lymphoma many years ago. I am just resting atm and trying to do little bits.

My dh works nights and has got up after a very short sleep to drive our rock guitarist ds18 to meet with his band as they have the opportunity to use a recording studio today. Which is exciting! Dh will probably go back to bed for a couple of hours before repeating the journey to collect ds.

In the afternoons and evenings i feel a bit better so will shower, listen to my audio book, read and do a couple of very light tidying jobs. Barely eating but i will roast a chicken with mash, veg and gravy for us and maybe nibble on that. Tonight, it's Strictly and Celebrity SAS.

Sending positive vibes to all those of you who are unwell.

Morning @lucysmam and everyone!

My carer came early today so I was up and ready at silly o'clock (okay, 7am so not that silly!). I was going to bumble to the cinema but I'm on new meds and feel a bit spinny so will find something to watch on TV later instead.

Because I'm on my own, I never, ever have a roast but today I have a joint slow cooking, potatoes peeled for roasting, veggies prepped (well there has to be some value of getting up early!) and I'm going to share my Sunday dinner with my 90yr old neighbour. She normally has another neighbour drop one round but they're on holiday so I thought I'd have a go!

Enjoy your pampering @lucysmam and happy Sunday everyone!

lucysmam · 15/10/2023 11:34

Enjoy your roast @OldTinHat ! They're one of my favourite meals 😋

Thanks @lucysmam! Timer no.1 has just gone off so I must go and get the potatoes par boiling!

I'd send you a plate but you're a bit far away!

Sitting here having a brunch of egg and soldiers, and feeling quite depressed that I’m back to work tomorrow after a lovely week off!!
Will do some housework and generally chill out today.

Simonjt · 15/10/2023 12:33

Morning, a lazy day here, we’ve taken our little camper out and been on a nice dog walk, we’ve just finished a hot lunch in it, the small people are chasing the dog around the woods we’re in.

When we get home we’re going to make some cornflake cakes and eat them while watching elemental. Grandma is coming tomorrow and staying for a week, so we need to get her room ready, we need to get a few bits for it actually so we may go home via ikea.

Have a lovely Sunday, I hope its as sunny where you are as it is here.

U2HasTheEdge · 15/10/2023 12:45

Afternoon! I'm about to go on a walk with a friend and my grandson.

Tonight I'm going to the cinema with one of my daughters and my mum to see the Eras tour. I have no bracelets or anything really. Will just go in everyday clothes and hope I don't stick out like a sore thumb.

Frankinbeans · 15/10/2023 12:54

I've tried "batch cooking" this morning whilst making 2 birthday cakes. I am now exhausted and don't think I'll ever batch cook again. DC are happy though because it means their school lunches will be more adventurous this week.

For the main birthday cake, I still need to ice and decorate it. After that I will hopefully have time for a relaxing bath before the rugby.

2023shady · 15/10/2023 12:57

Woke up late as couldn't sleep so having a cup of tea after 40 mins on the phone to EE!
Need to get changed and do a peloton ride then have a bath
Food shop delivery later

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 15/10/2023 13:03

Todays my one day off of the week and also DD's birthday.
We've given her her cards and presents and she's now at her friends house until later. I'm on my 3rd coffee of the day snuggled on the sofa in my hoodie watching Deck The Halls
Uniforms are all sorted for tomorrow so later we'll have a takeaway of DD's choice and a couple of wines before work tomorrow.

Chelsea26 · 15/10/2023 13:31

Afternoon all! I’m late to this today!

Woke up feeling much fresher than yesterday and came down to scrambled eggs and bacon from DP.

Just had left over take away for lunch and DP has said he fancies a roast so I will go to the shops in a minute and get the bits for that (he’s so spoilt!)

Going to do a whole chicken and then we’ll have chicken and bacon pie tomorrow with the left overs and I will make a stock from the carcass in the slow cooker as it’s going to be soup for lunch weather next week I think.

I made a lovely soup last week which was soffrito, yellow split peas, chicken stock and a small smoked gammon in the slow cooker for 6 hours so I think I’ll make that again.

Will feel very mumsnetty after making all that from one chicken, which is nice because I often feel like a slattern compared to most of you!

ssd · 15/10/2023 13:49

@lucysmam , the bracelets sound fab. Do people bring them along to concerts and swap them?

tobee · 15/10/2023 13:58

Getting ready to go on my trip to Berlin with my adult dd tomorrow. Lots of sightseeing ahead. 👍 😊

lucysmam · 15/10/2023 14:00

@U2HasTheEdge you won't, don't worry! Plenty of folks last night in normal clothes rather than dressed up as well as some in Eras themed outfits.

@ssd yep, take them along & swap with others (or just hand them out if you want).
