Any insight as to why this vote failed?

(Basically this would have been a formal body set up to represent Indigenous interests in decision-making but in a non-binding way, more here).

There is a thread in the Aussie mumsnetters section. Reasons: Murdoch, not learning from the remain campaign for brexit and making the same mistakes, wrong time (e.g. cost of living crisis), conflating two issues on one ballot (acknowledging the first nations on the constitution/giving a voice in Parliament). I think it should have been 2 questions. Fairly sure question 1 would have had no problem passing.

As an Aussie in the UK I have found it very frustratingly like Brexit. Everyone had their own idea of what the Voice would look like - e.g. the PM telling different groups at different times different things. It's the Schrodinger's cat : it's both powerful enough to change First Nation outcomes, and insignificant enough that it won't change anything for the rest of the citizens.

One last thing from me, I understand that compulsory voting also means more leaning towards status quo. Undecided are more likely to vote no. Also a big part of the opposition campaign was "if you don't know, vote no"
