Telling kids about my OP

I have planned surgery coming up, nothing ma major ( laparoscopy- day surgery thing) but I am not sure about the best way to tell the kids?
They are 8 and 10. Both like to ask questions and the older one is keen on medical facts (she reads a lot and watches TV shows like operation ouch) Both will want more detail than ‘an op to sort out a problem… I don’t want to lie or leave room for them to make up details ( a family member is currently palliative with BC so I want to be really clear),
How ever the surgery is to try and resolve damage from birth injuries from DC2. ( yes it’s taken 8 years…) and is to try and make a sex life possible again. I clearly can’t share this with my DCs.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

would just say it’s a gynae op to try to improve a birth injury.

I really think you're over complicating this, surely you don't have to give medical details to children of this age??

Yes I also think you’re overthinking this a bit OP… I would simply say you’re having a very minor surgery that won’t take long at all and you will be back home the very same day- they won’t even notice you’re gone!
If they then say where are they operating I’d say “on my private parts, now let’s discuss something else or you will put me off my dinner. 😂 All will be well”.
Good luck with the surgery. :)

Yes, perhaps I am over thinking it but I wanted to have a clear answer for when DD asks the inevitable ‘why?’.
Both my kids are extremely curious and used to adults explaining things to them. They are both aware of how babies are born.
I don’t want to talk about birth injuries in case they wrongly worry or feel any guilt. I also don’t want to lie by omission and leave any room for their imaginations.
My over thinking is probably a result of never being told ( at a simmilar age) about my mothers cancer and being left to try and work things out.

I mean I had surgery for my endometriosis last year, I didn't explain exactly what it was for to my six year old I just said I had a problem with my tummy so the doctor was doing an operation. You don't have to tell kids your personal medical details I'm sure if you just say you have a condition to fix an injury that'll be fine. I certainly didn't know the details of my mum's hysterectomy etc and things like that as a child.
