Would you decorate someone else's urn?

Not as weird as it sounds I promise.

Basically the previous owners of our house were keen gardeners and we keep finding 'interesting' garden decor in the nooks and crannies.

Hidden in a bush I found a large ish terracotta planter that is shaped like an urn.

I really want to paint it matte black and make it a Halloween decoration - maybe draw a skull and cross bones on it or 'RIP'.

DH is against this, he said imagine if it was actually an urn (he was thinking dead pet rather than that they were murderers) but it's creeped me out a bit!!

But in my head the Halloween decoration is looking REALLY GOOD.

Are urn shaped planters normal and unsuspicious? Or do I leave well alone so as not to disturb the dead?

How big is it? Urn shaped planters are common but they are bigger than your normal people urns.
If it was a pet it would be teeny tiny.
Plus, if its not buried but contains some beloved ashes - wouldn't they have taken it with them?
I'm team Halloween decorations!

Why make a big deal out of it if your DH would rather not?

Your DH is being a wet blanket. Decorate the urn!

About 45cm high I would say!

Glad that they are definite thing, I was trying to rack my brains about whether or not I'd seen any in the garden centre before but I'm sure I haven't.

He isn't usually a wet blanket but he does take the paranormal quite seriously!
