Just as the title says really ... my daughter has recently been diagnosed and I'm keen to know how I / we can best support her. Thank you

I'm not diagnosed but pretty sure I'm autistic (my DD is and all her autistic traits I recognise in myself)

All my life I've been repeatedly told by my mum how difficult I was as a child and teen, with my tantrums and violent mood swings, and how dreadful I made it for her. It's made me feel like an awful person and I'm finally realising that I was having meltdowns and I couldn't help it.

So what I want to do differently for DD is basically not make her feel shit about herself. We reassure her after meltdowns that we love her and we know she can't help it. We try our best to create a stress free environment for her at home and to reduce her anxieties. We big her up and tell her how proud we are of her. We just try our best to understand what makes her tick and to make life easier for her.
