Flu Jab - Anyone Suffer Afterwards?

I’ve never had a flu jab but I want to book one this year. Just wondering if anyone has had any side effects?

Am a teacher so I always book with Boots in Aug for the first availability in Sept before the bugs start sweeping through my school.

Had a really sore, arm, no bruise, couldn't even see where I had been injected, but it was horribly tender to the touch, couldn't sleep on it. But apart from that..😁

Half of my department have been off with that COVID not COVID virus, so am taking it as a win as I have managed to avoid it all, could be a fluke though!

Just a sore arm for a day or so.

MoltenLasagne · 11/10/2023 08:33

When I've booked flu jabs, I plan a quieter weekend as I tend to get flu-like symptoms for a day and feel under the weather. Nothing major, a bit achy and shivery, but certainly better to curl up on the sofa than have big parties planned.

Just a sore arm for a few days, other than that, nothing

EmmaPaella · 11/10/2023 08:34

I felt rough a few days afterwards for a few days. But I am still glad I had it. I have had flu and don’t want it again.

This. I always have one, had this year's last week.

AtmosAtmos · 11/10/2023 08:35

A bad sore arm last year, nothing this year

lilyblue5 · 11/10/2023 08:35

Slightly sore arm/shoulder. That was all. Get it on the arm you don’t use so much and apparently give it a good hard rub after as that disperses it (so the pharmacist told me)

NiceViper · 11/10/2023 08:38

I've been getting them every year for a while now.

The worst I've had is a sore arm, and this year even that barely happened.

But it does take people in different ways. If you're getting tiredness and symptom-like side effects, it'll mean that the vaccine is doing something useful as your immune system is responding

Dogfureverywhere · 11/10/2023 08:40

Sore arm at injection site the next day and feel a bit tired for 24hrs but nothing that a couple of paracetamol doesn't sort out. I had "notcovid" last month and felt rough for 3 days so getting my covid jab today as don't want to catch the real thing! 😷

gotomomo · 11/10/2023 09:12

Sore arm for 48 hours, nothing else

gotomomo · 11/10/2023 09:13

I had flu and covid the same day, covid didn't even hurt afterwards...

Ifailed · 11/10/2023 09:21

has mine on Saturday. No sore arm this time, but did feel a bit rough on Sunday, like the start of a cold. Fine by Monday.

mindutopia · 11/10/2023 09:22

I get one every year and have for probably 20 years (asthma) and I've never had any side effects at all that I can think of, except for maybe sometimes a bit of a tender spot on the arm the next day.

DRS1970 · 11/10/2023 09:25

I had mine at the same time as my COVID vaccination, and no I'll effects at all.

TheWitche · 11/10/2023 09:26

No symptoms or sore arm! I barely felt it go in, it was the most ‘gentle’ one I’ve had ha. The dr does all the covid / flu jabs in the hospital so I guess he’s experienced 🤣

BIWI · 11/10/2023 09:29

First couple of times I had it, nothing at all. The last time, a sore arm that lasted for 24 hours.

It will vary as each vaccine is constructed differently, to deal with the different virus/strain.

PennyPinkPineapple · 11/10/2023 09:44

I had a really sharp pain in my shoulder blade afterwards which lasted for about 2 days. No arm pain or other side effects though.

NeedWineNow · 11/10/2023 09:52

I had mine yesterday. Sore arm, and it felt very tender to lie on last night. Still a bit stiff and sore today but that'll go off.

megletthesecond · 11/10/2023 09:55

Never had a single side effect from flu or covid jabs. I'm quite healthy though and drink lots of water, eat well and take it easy that evening though.

Blanketpolicy · 11/10/2023 09:57

I had my first flu and also the covid booster on the same day last year. One was a little tender for a day, cant remember which one, but I remember the nurse asking what side I slept on so she could put the sore one in the other arm.

RoxieLoxy · 11/10/2023 10:00

No sore arm at all for me unlike previous years. I did have a bit of a sore throat after but could have just been a mild cold. So none to very mild side effects.

SM4713 · 11/10/2023 10:15

I used to get a slight sore spot on the arm, until I started having covid vaccines. Now the covid arm is a bit sore, and the flu arm is absolutely fine. Never had any symptoms.
