Any football players around? What simple skills should Dd focus on to improve her game?

Dd is 9 and in year 5.

She’s been very keen on football for some time. She was attending a school-based club, which initially I’d thought included some teaching, but actually was just a supervised kick about on very small pitches. She enjoyed it although I don’t think she really learnt any skills or game play.

Half way through last year she joined training sessions with a local grassroots club who were hoping to set up their first girls team. Her game improved and she made the team. All good. Some of the other girls are excellent and have been playing for years with proper coaching/ previous team experience etc. The others are also good and improving (especially as they seem to have dads who are wannabe coaches themselves!) Dd is decent, but lacks generally lacks experience and confidence. She could do with getting stuck in more as she sometimes lets the more confident girls take over and I guess that becomes a bit of a self fulfilling trap.

Anyway my question is how can I improve her skills in our spare time when it’s just the two of us (and I’m one of the least sporty people ever!) We do go to the park to play and practice but I’m just winging it and doing a mishmash of things. Which 3 (or so) skills/moves could we focus on to best help her? Are there any YouTube videos that show clear steps etc that even I might be able to follow?

I’m a bit shocked at what a competitive world it is already and much as I’m trying not to get sucked into it, I also don’t want Dd to get left behind. She’s autistic and defines herself by football. She worked really hard to make the team and is so proud of herself (as am I) She’s having friendship issues ATM and having her football team is one of the things getting her through.

Thanks.
