If you regularly walk 10-12k steps each day, what shoes do you recommend?

Nephew works as a porter in a hospital and is constantly going through trainers!

Any recommendations for something that will last more then 3 months and is comfortable for him to be on his feet all day?

On Running. I’ve got the Cloud 5 Waterproof and they really are very waterproof. I wear them daily, they’re so comfy.

They run small so size up.

i walk a minimum of 20 miles outside every week as i have no car. I swear by New Balance 574 for narrow feet but they come in wide too. Ive been wearing the same pair for 2 years happily

I love my Skechers as they are very comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend them for heavy daily use though, mine only last about a year and I’m pretty sedentary.
Tempted to try a pair of ASICs or New Balance now though.

I walk an average of about 18,000 steps a day. I do run an amount of them but most of it is walking and I just wear whatever comes to hand (or foot). Has been sandals for the past few months. Suppose it will need to change when it eventually gets colder.

@frantoia I used to work in retail and would do between 35-40k steps every day. Couldn’t believe it when I checked my phone and it was tracking on the health app.
Walked to and from the station to home, station to shop and just walking around all day like a madman at work. I would even go for walks after work sometimes with my mum 5 miles down by the river in the summer. Don’t miss it though, although did enjoy being skinny whilst being able to easily eat junk food 😂 Unsurprisingly I never felt tired from being on my feet all day but I really notice it now even if I walk for an hour I’m feeling achey.

@00100001 I just wore any old shoes but did used to get through shoes pretty quick. Wish I’d invested in better shoes as I think I ruined my arches but not wearing proper footwear. Maybe Geox or something like that would be good?

Josef Siebel sandals in summer and boots in winter.

I average about 15000 per day, adidas ultra boost mainly, very comfy

LadyChilli · 09/10/2023 21:39

I average about 15000 a day. I find Sketchers super comfortable but not long lasting. I swear by Ecco shoes. Fantastic quality and they last forever.

Wheelz46 · 09/10/2023 22:10

I average around 20,000 steps per day and my sketchers are the best by far. I am a little confused about the poster who said they are hideous, mine are just literally plain black sketchers, don't look hideous in my opinion.

Timberland trainers, hard wearing, comfy. True to size

Have a look at Shoes for Crews. They have a variety of styles. KFC and McDonald’s staff wear as part of uniform. I wore 2013-18 and omg being on your feet for 15/16 hours a day they are comfortable as can be. Even better they are truly non-slip (I’m talking oily floors from fryers!) which could be suitable for being a porter. I used to describe them as like Nike airs but without branding as they felt like clouds (for at least the first 8/10 hours anyway). Think I only had the one pair for my entire stint.
