Could someone check some French writing for me please ?

A distant French relative recently lost his father. I am fond of him and want to send a card. He was so lovely to me when I lost mine. Please could someone sense check my writing.

Je suis très attristé d'apprendre le décès de ton père. Bien sûr, je sais à quel point il est difficile de perdre son père. Il semblerait que dans ce cas, les circonstances pourraient rendre les choses encore plus difficiles.

Avec mon amour et mes meilleurs voeux à ta famille.

Can I ask what you want to say for "Il semblerait que dans ce cas, les circonstances pourraient rendre les choses encore plus difficiles."? Or maybe put up the English version?

Have run this past v well qualified in French DH. He suggests:

All OK in main paragraph. Perhaps change last sentence to
'Avec mes sentiments les plus amicaux à toi et à ta famille'

He thought amour wasn't quite right in the context, but your call obviously.
But otherwise très bien.

Could you also add "je te présente toutes mes condoléances"?

I want to say:

It is always hard to lose one's father, of course, but I seems that in these circumstances it must be particularly hard.

Actually I might leave that bit out altogether.

Thank you. That is exactly the kind of sense check I wanted . I can get by in French (French primary education), but I don't speak it from one year to the next.

You could say. C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que j'ai appris le décès de ton papa. Mes pensées sont avec toi et ta famille. Amicalement.....

I’d leave it as it is. Your relative knows that you don’t speak French fluently and will appreciate your effort.

Yes, this sounds more natural to me. It's what I'd write to my French friends /family.

Sounds good but I'd echo what @Lifeinlists says that perhaps amour isn't quite the right fit. Lovely that you are making the effort 🙂

Instead of amour etc at the end, you could write Je pense très fort à toi.

If you're female and want to use 'attristée' , it needs the extra e.
