How much do your breasts weigh?

serious question, I have had a double mastectomy and am trying factor in loss of breasts in calculation of BMI, and what weight I should be now not to be classed as obese, and what weight I should be aiming for to be a healthy BMI.

According to the information I have found online, they were only about a pound each - surely they were more than that? If they really only weighed that little, I am closer to a being merely "overweight" rather than "obese" - but I feel sure that must be wrong.

Any insights or knowledge? Or anyone else about 38 D who could pop one on a kitchen scale for me please???

Thank you!

how on earth do you find your basal metabolic rate?

I had a breast reduction and they weighed how much they took away.

4lbs 8oz.

This is why l had a reduction.

roughly 880g each here, I am a 38E.

I did struggle to see the screen though without lifting them off!

Most people have two breasts.

I missed that the OP had a double mastectomy, so thought she was calculating the weight of one breast.

each though

Sorry, I missed that you had a double mastectomy, so only thought you were calculating the weight of one breast.

My mum had a reduction. She went from a GG cup to B/C. From memory she had 1kg removed from one side and 800g from the other!

Humans are roughly 98% the density of water, so 1 gramme per cubic cm which is 1 ml.
If you take a typical 750ml measuring jug, and could imagine your previous breasts fitting that, then I'd say 750g / 0.75kg each, so 1.5Kg total.

1.5Kg is 3 lb 5 Oz in Imperial.

Had a double mastectomy when the surgeon came to see me afterwards she remarked "everything is out the other good news you've lost 2 kgs" - was a 38D.

A very abundantly endowed friend of mine once said hers weighed 1 1/2 stone each.

At the time I was still around a 34 A and mine weren’t anywhere big enough to get into the kitchen scales.
