Go into private healthcare. Much better working conditions, but crap pension.

Clinical research - still nursing but without the long ward shifts, or public health / health improvement roles

What about serving as a nurse/first aider at an institution (eg a university) or a corporate venue of some sort?

Or teach nursing at a nursing college?

Or find a job in a private healthcare setting?

I work in private health and social care and we are crying out for nurses. So much so, nurses are naming their salaries. Unit leaders are on around £50k in my service for a 30 bedded unit, I’ve just lost a nurse with management experience to a company who’s offered her £100k!

I left the NHS over 20 years ago, worked in the 3rd sector in management, worked also for the regulator inspecting heath care services and now in a director role. Would never return to NHS.

The civil service accepts a nursing degree. I wonder if other organisations that offer paid graduate schemes would too. Nursing gives you a lot of transferable skills and experience. For example, staying calm in a crisis and being able to communicate and influence people (from patients to senior consultants). Nurses tend to work hard and the ex nurses I work with are excellent team players.
