Why do MN parents never believe their child.

Reading a number of times on here that if a child says something about their teacher or other children MN automatically say that child is lying.

When my children were young if they said something that I was uncomfortable thinking about I went and SPOKE to the teacher. Not email. And not to acuse but to discuss. If your child is upset there is always a reason that you and the teacher
Can hopefully sort out.

If you don't believe your child or get 2 sides of the story they will not tell you anything again.

I often see the opposite tbh, child couldn't possibly be mistaken/making things up and everything they say is gospel.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say that the child is definitely lying, just people advising the OP to exercise caution before being 'fuming' or 'going ape shit' or whatever it is the OP is feeling .

Little kids, in particular, lie and get confused very easily.

@Proudwomantoday I have also seen plenty of posts where teachers are automatically believed over young children. I always trusted my daughter when she told me anything about any incident especially when there was a bite mark left by another kid 😕. Wrote an email and a lame excuse was given. Not even an incident form was filled. I really wanted to complain but I knew I was putting my daughter in a private school this year so didn't bother complaining. There were other lies too especially by one of the teachers. Came as a shock as we had such a positive experience in a state nursery school before Reception.

I see the opposite on here more often, parents seem convinced that their child would never lie to them. Yet I've worked with children and found they are very good at making things up, some of them have incredible imaginations - I once saw a show and tell about a holiday, it had all the details about the plane journey, the food, things they did and who went with them...it turned out to be completely made up!

I think the best thing either way is to listen to the child and have a calm chat with their school to find out the whole story. I would never not listen, but I would always try to find out as much as I can.

I have, and I do agree with the OP. There are posts like the ones you mention but I have seen posts it’s been very ‘a TEACHER would not do that, now run along!’

I am never sure whether it’s because we do have a lot of teachers on here or whether it’s because there is a bit of a ‘give the OP a hard time’ attitude here a lot of the time. Either way, it’s uncomfortable.

@Summermeadowflowers like you even i feel there are lot of teachers on here, my partner works in the education field too for a really long time and he has also come across some teachers who really shouldn't be working in the education field. Just because he works in the education field it never stops us to say what is right or wrong. There are good and bad in every sector.
