I'm up & waiting for a coach to an open day at Hull Uni already. Dd1's friend is running slightly late so we're hoping it'll wait a few minutes if she's not here by the time it gets here! One, already full, coach is about to leave.

Dd2's sleeping- she got up to watch a stream of Adele from Vegas last night so will sleep a while yet I think! I'm not sure what her & her dad will do with the day.

I'm expecting.to be tired when we get in, so plan on shower, pj's & early night 💤

If not, I'll continue pulling out a crochet project I'm not happy with, in front of the TV

What about all of you? 🙂

Been to DD dance class this morning, quick stop at Lidli as we completely ran out of loo roll last night, also quick grab or something for tea, sausages for toad in the hole!
It's a lovely day here so need to get washing on line and going to potter in garden and get ready for my delivery of spring bulbs later in the week! But I'm procrastinating as before I do any of that I need to poo pick!!
Baking for preschool fundraiser on Sunday this afternoon!
And I'm 12 weeks pregnant so can I fit a nap in? Absolutely!!!
Have a lovely day all!
I love knowing what people are up to during the day! I feel very comforted by you all getting in with your day!

Floralnomad · 07/10/2023 10:54

@BIossomtoes that looks lovely . Hope the coach and uni are both excellent @lucysmam - I can also remember when your girls were small - time just rushes by . I’m currently watching the cricket , then I’m walking the dog and this evening we are going to see Peter Kay . OH has just left to take the MIL shopping and daughter is still in bed .

ShipshapeShore · 07/10/2023 12:21

Time flies. My baby (13) just told me she's taking her eyelash curler to her friend's because what if her eyelashes uncurl? 😆we are all meeting at a party later though and she's enjoying experimenting with little bits of make up. She's going to Oxford apparently so I'll look forward to all that in a few years!

I'm being taxi today then having a bath once I've got everyone out of the house. Party later with friends which will be nice.

Have a lovely time @lucysmam even though you're not posting from your kitchen spot as usual!

I got up quite late, which was lovely. I am now waiting for my friend to come round as we are off to a food and drink festival.

Will probably spend the evening crocheting and reading the new Strike book. Unless I fall into a food and drink 'coma'.

Peridot1 · 07/10/2023 12:40

Have a nice time @lucysmam! I did the uni trips with DS a few years ago. Had a couple of nice weekends in Newcastle and Edinburgh with him. He went to neither!

I was up early but haven’t done much yet. We are having our neighbours over this afternoon for a bbq as it’s so lovely here. DH has prepped beef skewers and chicken skewers for satay. I’m about to do an Asian salad dressing and tidy the kitchen and then vacuum and go for a shower.

Contemplating making a jug of Aperol spritz purely to use up the bottle of Aperol as it’s been hanging around for a few years now. Does Aperol go off? 😀

Don’t think it will be a late one but you never know.

Shergill15 · 07/10/2023 12:53

Enjoyed a bit of a lie in this morning after a really tough week at work. Fairly chilled day so far - although that may change shortly when supervising DD's maths homework! Need to pop to Aldi for some stuff for lunchboxes for the week ahead then DD has her swimming lesson late afternoon. After that we'll have something quick and easy for dinner and probably watch a film

NonMiDispiace · 07/10/2023 12:55

Good afternoon everyone, it’s beautifully sunny here.
So far I have done two loads of washing and hung it out, folded and put away the laundry done yesterday, walked the dog, cleaned the kitchen and loaded the dw.
I fiddled with a water colour I’m doing and now I don’t like it (nothing new for me!), eaten sweet and sour chicken that I made yesterday and I’m thinking about sitting outside in the sun for a bit.
DH has finally mowed the lawns so at least it’s looking tidier.
Another dog walk later, probably across the fields and through the woods I think.
Enjoy Hull @lucysmam 😊

Giggorata · 07/10/2023 13:17

Gods morning, well afternoon now, lucysmam and all!
Have a great day in Hull. I went there for one of my courses and really liked it.

This morning we worked on getting the quite nervous older lab to feel comfortable in the brand new kennel, aka the Dog Palace. We have been chucking treats inside and at one point, I went inside with her. Things we do…

DH has gone shopping and plans to do absolutely nothing this afternoon, which will probably manifest as the sofa, TV, Private Eye, beer and the big dog.
He will undoubtedly bring back one of his favourite butcher's steak pies.
I am spending the afternoon and evening with my coven, which will include a pot luck supper.

He has just returned, so now I have to go and admire everything he's bought. (This was the subject of a recent thread on MN, where I learnt I'm not the only one who has to do this 🙄)

lucysmam · 07/10/2023 14:13

@ShipshapeShore that's something my girls would do! 🤣 They carry lash glue, nail glue, lippy, eyeliner...allll sorts...and then never use the bloody stuff!

@Giggorata I remember reading that thread while on a bus, with dd1. It might have been when we went to see a Killers tribute band. It was very funny, and exactly what we do when we've been out - even though we were all usually there 🙈

We're on our way back, and the girls are busy looking to see where we can go and explore next.

I was outside Aldi at 8am and home by 9.15, DH had a cooked breakfast on the go!! The morning was spent doing housework and washing and we’ve just got back from seeing my DBIL (my sister in law died in April of stomach cancer so we’re checking in on him regularly as we know he’s missing her terribly). Feckin Covid and poor early diagnosis issues, she was only 69. It breaks our hearts that nobody took her seriously back in 2020/21 and she just couldn’t get seen.

DH is out cutting the grass, I’m about to get the washing all in and then I’m making Brownies for church choir tomorrow.

Tea tonight is homemade Chicken Kyiv, winter slaw, rocket salad and homemade wedges.

Then it’s Strictly and we want to watch the rest of The Long Shadow.

daffodilandtulip · 07/10/2023 15:55

Oh @lucysmam it's the first weekend in what feels like ages where we haven't been at an open day! Nottingham is our last one next week.

I've done a dog walk, visited my friend and been to Morrisons for the Salad Bar for tea. We're doing weekly cheat teas rather than takeaways - save some cash but still have a day off bloody cooking everyday.

Autumns Saturday night tv is up and running so no plans for the rest of the day (although I am feeling guilty that I haven't got off my arse to do a final lawn mow!)

daffodilandtulip · 07/10/2023 16:00

@piscofrisco DD was like that about Cambridge. There or nowhere. Then went to a Open Day and changed her mind, so suddenly we are trooping around the whole country because she can't decide!

Total opposite for her, we have two local unis and there's not a chance in hell she will apply to save money or stay with me 😂

ForfarBridie · 07/10/2023 16:34

I’m getting ready for a quick trip to the UK tomorrow to attend a family wedding in a few days. I’ll only be there a week and I’m looking forward to it.

mamaduckbone · 07/10/2023 16:59

I've been at a uni open day with ds1 today as well! Warwick for us...he wasn't keen. He definitely doesn't have 5 for his UCAS form at the moment so there will be some more visiting for us. After to-ing and fro-ing about Leeds he's decided he would like to look there, but the last open day is full so he'll have to make do with a campus tour and an online talk.

England rugby match on TV and a bbq to make the most of this crazy warm weather this evening. I have a cider and my feet up.

CeriB82 · 07/10/2023 17:18

Cleaning. Its my therapy!

worked 39 hours and went out with work last night for a meal. I like my weekends to be quiet snd see as little of people as I possibly can.

tomorrow will be the same. At home.

AllotmentTime · 07/10/2023 17:23

Prevening all (the Sheldon Cooper word for the bit between afternoon and evening)

We've had a fairly peaceful day while both DC got taken out to a birthday party. DH immediately proposed brunch so we went to a nice local garden centre for that and had a mooch round afterwards. I broke my record for the earliest I've ever started Christmas shopping 🤣😱

Then we have all been napping and glued to screens tbh. Everyone has had a very busy and exhausting week so an afternoon of laziness was definitely needed.

Carbonara for dinner when either DH or I bothers to get up and make it, and then Strictly. And then bed! 🤣

twistyizzy · 07/10/2023 17:25

Finally got out for DDog's first day beating!
Hyped isn't the word but we didn't get told off by the gamekeeper so that's a bonus. We are both exhausted and I'm aching all over.

daffodilandtulip · 07/10/2023 17:31

@mamaduckbone DD loved Leeds and I didn't think it would even feature on the list before we visited. I was impressed.

piscofrisco · 07/10/2023 17:44

@daffodilandtulip I went to Leeds. It's a great city!

RightOnTheEdge · 07/10/2023 17:49

Up this morning to take dd to her football match. It was against a team they've played a few times who are not very good but make up for it by being aggressive and gobby. The parents are the same so it's always a bit tense!
Thankfully dds team won.

I have been doom scrolling and procrastinating to the extreme since I got back and I have so much to do 😭
I can't believe it's nearly 6pm and I've not even started!
I'm so impressed with all the posters who have got on with all their washing and house work today.

daffodilandtulip · 07/10/2023 17:59

@piscofrisco it's joint first with Loughborough currently!

Simonjt · 07/10/2023 18:54

lucysmam · 07/10/2023 09:51

@Simonjt she's very interested in Law! It's probably about another hour ish to get there so about the same as getting to college (where we've left from) on the bus. Glad you'll finally have some comfy furniture! Is everyone settled now?

Happy birthday to your dh @ApolloandDaphne 🥳

Beer festival sounds fun @griegwithhimandhim enjoy!

I hope it’s been a successful day for you and not too tiring. Yes, very well, our son has settled very quickly into his new school which had worried us both, as he found his first year of school in England really hard, so we were very nervous about such a big change.

lucysmam · 07/10/2023 19:25

@Simonjt that must be such a relief! It's hard enough settling into something new, I imagine a whole new country would be much more difficult!

@mamaduckbone I don't think dd was keen on Hull after chatting when we got in. She's been looking at Liverpool and somewhere else I can't remember this evening 🙈

@AllotmentTime I had forgotten all about "prevening"!

@RightOnTheEdge sometimes a scroll and procrastinate day does you the world of good! There's always tomorrow for cleaning & washing 🙄

We're just having a takeaway pizza and chips between us. I'll pull a few rows of my crochet afterwards. It's fine, expensive for me, yarn, so quite time consuming as I'd got quite far before deciding I'm actually not happy with it. Then bed time 💤💤
