Meat and health

I have recently quit eating chicken because i don't really care for it, and don't like any other meat apart from fish. Turkey is ok but it is difficult to find it unprocessed or freshly sliced (although M&S do a nice, dry version, lol.

I also have a preference for tinned mackerel or decent tuna as opposed to fresh fish (shoot me!Grin). And I don't like salmon at all. I must look really fussy, I know.

What I am interested in is whether I can source what I need from this way of eating, such as iron, B12, etc. Would I be omitting anything important?

I love veg and fruit so my diet is pretty great otherwise.

Many people don't eat meat or fish and do absolutely fine. Me included.

I know, i tried going veggie over the years and do feel tired and crap quite quickly. A lot do say they needed supplements though and women often had a drop in iron.

According to Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, some people are genetically better suited to vegetarianism than others, owing to differences in processing lipids.

Personally, I tend towards anaemia and find only taking haem iron (via meat) sorts it out. I've never found a vegetable or pharmaceutical source that works.

A new study shows that a person’s ability to stick to a vegetarian diet may be tied to their genetic makeup. As more people go meatless, this biological information could help make the change easier, researchers said.
