Can anyone signpost me to a prolapse support thread please?

Years back, there used to be 'any old prolapse' threads which went on for ages. Posters could join and give each other advice and support.
I've looked and can't find any similar ones running now, so am asking in case I've missed it.
TIA

There have been a few, but not long running ones like those I don't think, I was on them for several years. I am 10 years post surgery for mine now. I can try and answer questions but I'm not up to date with eg referral times.

Thanks for answering, @EfficientlyDecluttering.
The reason I posted is that I'm back in the position I was in twelve years ago, when I had multiple prolapses and the threads were such a great support.
This time round, I'm looking for support, but also if anyone has had repeat surgery as my rectocele has recurred. I've been fighting for over a year to get any kind of treatment for it, as I've been sent round in circles due to a pelvic floor problem which is now resolved.
It's all a bit niche, but I'd appreciate any support I can get as the effects of it are effecting me even more now.

Ah, that doesn't sound like something I can really help with unfortunately. Sorry this has happened to you, I worry about it. Those threads were brilliant, and I know some had had multiple surgeries but that was a long time ago. Have you seen a woman's health physio? I only had a rectocele repaired and still have a cystocele but go to yoga classses with a teacher who specialises in pelvic floors and that helps, also avoiding too much heavy lifting, constipation etc.

There are a couple of FB groups I'm in (but don't actively participate in at the moment) which might be of use but they are both a bit US-centric, one is called Rectocele Patients and the other is APOPs (Association of Pelvic Organ Prolapse). I think the latter is why the MN threads fizzled out, a lot of people joined that group and stopped posting.

Thank you @Catmummyof2, I'll look into those.
@EfficientlyDecluttering, I've seen everyone who could possibly be involved, and have had all sorts of invasive and embarrassing investigations and advice in the quest to get this sorted, trust me!
It's a shame the old thread has fizzled out. It was really good, and I was on there for a long time, due to having multiple prolapses, infections and two surgeries.
Beside my rectocele, I know I have a cystocele which has recurred too, but doesn't cause me any issues at the moment, and I have a urethrocele which was deemed inoperable - I just have to be careful after having a wee as I leak a bit when standing up.
For anyone else passing by who might have a similar issue - don't ignore it or accept it as normal! It really pisses me off (sorry for the pun) when urinary incontinence is normalised for women - men certainly wouldn't accept it, and nor should we women.
I've got off my box now..... I really would appreciate it if anyone has similar experience and could tell me whether or not they got a second surgery - my case is due to be discussed at a MDT because due to the first surgery, there is scar tissue and my consultant is unsure whether to proceed with surgery or not.
Sorry for the long post, but I am dealing with the consequences which are pretty dire (I'm not going to go into detail here, but those who know will understand). My mental health is affected, as is my self image and confidence.

I had a contrast mri the other day with evacuation. Quite demeaning to say the least. I'll find out in a month the results of it. Pretty sure I've a rectocele, cystocele and possibly more. My rectocele is my biggest problem, but I'm not sure if I'm a candidate for surgery yet. They might recommend holding off as I'm only early 40s and still very active.

How long ago was your surgery?

vipersnest1 · 08/10/2023 21:37

I'm so sorry, @TooningOut, I've only just seen your post. My original surgeries were twelve years ago. I had a hysterectomy and cystocele repair in the first one and rectocele repair and pelvic floor in the second (four months apart, after writing and begging to get my rectocele repaired. I've never been able to fathom why the rectocele wasn't repaired in the first one as it was the most painful of all of them.)
The rectocele repair started to break down about seven years ago and has really troubled me for the last two, hence my new referral - I'm hyper mobile though, and it means my collagen is crap. I know I have a recurrence of the cystocele but it's not really causing any problems, so I'm quite happy to leave that alone for now.
If you're done with having children you may well be offered surgery - the other alternative is a pessary. There are different kinds for different problems, but yours might not be suitable, and they might not be suitable for you personally.
You say you are quite active - do you run? It's not recommended for women with prolapse problems as it causes a lot of pressure on the pelvic floor. There is a whole raft of other advice about not lifting anything too heavy, doing exercises (Squeezy app), tensing your pelvic floor if you sneeze or cough and avoiding constipation above all else. (I'm not joking when I tell you I've had lessons on how to have a shit.) Sorry to be graphic, but my dignity and self-esteem has very much been left behind in all of this.
I'm still waiting on the MDT by the way, and think I'll end up having to chase them to get an answer, although I have an appointment for another issue tomorrow so might be brave and ask if they can see it on my record (which I know they will if it's happened).
