Non-Indian at QE barnet

I hope I didn't come across as biased, but my DS achieved a high enough score for QE. However, I'm aware that the majority of students there are of Indian descent, while only 4% are white British. I'm curious about what it's like for a minority student at the school. We don't have any personal connections with Indian families, so I'm wondering if there are significant cultural and study attitude differences compared to a typical white family that may not prioritise academics as much.

What is “biased” about your OP?

Your OP scored a high result. Nothing to do with what you think about him

The fact your son gained a high enough score for QEB means he will be with like-minded students. I'd take their nationalities / culture out of the equation. It's an academic hothouse, they take the best. There are many opportunities given which other schools can't give. In taking these up, your son will naturally make friends with his cohort. I don't see a problem.

I do see a problem . I am Indian and my partner is white . Our son is white welsh . My lived experiences Indian families have different inward values . They are not as tolerant as western families. And certainly don’t want to mix outside school. No one can deny the way i feel being Indian and knowing how Indian families live outside the school and work place . London is diverse . So why send your child to a school that is 95% Indian. I can guarantee that if your child turn out to be different or take a different path in life . His friends parents would not welcome you .

This may have been more true of first generation Indian immigrant parents in the past - say 10-30 yrs ago - but many of the parents of QEB will be second generation immigrants and grown up in the UK so more socially and culturally open minded.
