Urgh the not knowing is the worst for an anxious mind like mine!

I can see my first pic looks like your tick @DontMakeMeShushYou

But I reexamined the scene and there really weren't any legs at any point and as I was trying to tweezer it it sort of changed shape just like a blister. It wasn't this smooth and round. And all I was left with were two little fragments (skin?), the rest was just blood.

I guess I will just never know...

I really don't think it is .... yours is quite flat to your skin, whilst a tick, in my experience, is more shaped like the black bit on a match - totally different from what you've got. Also, the legs are usually visible, waving madly, almost buried in the flesh of whatever they've chosen to have their next meal off. Disgusting things!

It doesn’t sound like a tick with the extra info. Did it itch after pulling it out? I usually find with ticks that you can’t feel them when they’re in, but they itch like mad shortly after removal.

No itching but I don't usually react to insect bites.
Yes like a PP said it was quite flat to the skin. I'm looking at the tick tweezers a previous PP suggested and I see there is a sort of hook to get underneath and I don't think there was anything to get under, it was flush to the skin.
But then again it was so small I could be wrong. And I will be getting the tweezers for next time regardless!
I've woken up with bad stomach cramps and feeling very nauseous right now, so I'm paranoid!!

It really doesn’t sound like a tick, and even it was, for most bites, it’s a non-event. Pull it out. Move on. Many PPs probably get several each year. Your stomach cramps definitely aren’t related.

@Russooooo thank you that's the sort of talking to I need!

Thank you for the reassurance, I've never dealt with them so it's hard to know. Ready for a full inspection of the DC tomorrow morning though just in case. @SisterA was your child's tick big enough for a tick remover or how did you manage to get rid of it?

The tick was so tiny we had to use tweezers as was too small for the tick remover tools. It was minuscule but could still see tiny little legs there was no doubt about it.

SlipSlidinAway · 04/10/2023 12:50

I've never removed a tick from my dogs - or recently my ankle - and not seen little legs. So hopefully yours wasn't a tick op.
