Parcel of love - homesick DS

DS is in his 3rd week of uni and having been hit with a combination of "Freshers Flu", one too many hangovers and the reality of fending for himself, today told me he is homesick Sad.

He is 6 hours away so a brief visit isn't realistic (even if I thought it was a good idea!) so am thinking the next best thing might be a parcel of thoughtful treats. Trouble is I'm a bit stuck as to what to send as we already sent him off with most things. Also don't want to send anything to heavy as that makes it stupid expensive to post.

All I can think of is sending his favourite sweets! Confused. He's not massively sentimental but maybe a silly photo of us as a family, framed?
Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Does he have a sweet tooth?

Berrocca for the hangovers
Takeaway/Just eat voucher

Fluffy socks ? Sachets of nice hot chocolate ?

If he's anything like I was at uni he will feel better for telling you he's homesick and will feel better now! Hope you're ok Flowers

I send lots of snacks to my dd, snack pots and nuts. She loves fluffy socks too, so I send her those and some sweets, marshmallows etc. just put together a little box of treats and note saying love mum, he will be thrilled and munch his way through them!

Thornton’s special toffee

Can you send him a cake? (As in order one to be delivered)?

Lovely ideas. I did toy with the idea of a Just Eats voucher or similar but don't want him spending it on booze! Is it possible to restrict the voucher to food only? Grin

An online food delivery with his favourite things in and a few treats he might not want to spend money on?

herbygarden · 03/10/2023 21:40

Magazine maybe. Favourite tea/coffee/hot chocolate. Vitamins. Gift voucher maybe? Plus his favourite sweets sound like a lovely idea :)

yesno124 · 03/10/2023 21:43

Apart from boiled sweets he doesn't really have a sweet tooth so a bit stumped for foodie treats. He's always savoury food.

He does love biltong/jerky etc so maybe a few packets of that.

Giant pork pie or a box of his favourite crisps.
And for his cold, lemsips, man sized tissues, a hot water bottle and warm socks.

Amazon grocery are very useful for students and parents

I gave mine my Tesco password and let him order what he wanted/needed. Obviously I could have amended his order had it been totally outrageous.
