I know, I know but its Pulp, my favourite band ever and I think with all my health issues I should go. Ive never liked New Year but my dad was proud to be from Edinburgh and I do have some lovely memories of the place. This is nuts, isnt it?

Newcraighall seems to be around 250 over new year - 7 miles out on Trainline

A bit out the box but have you considered hiring a camper van/ motor home. We did this one year and it was great parked midway down Dundas st so good to stagger back to and then drove down for a new years day swim. It had a shower and heating so was warm enough. You could probably get a week for less than £600

That's what I was thinking, or cottages.com within a hours circumference, really depends on weather, but public transport won't be any different in those circumstances. If the weather is shite, you would really need to be in walking distance.

Did you look at the Travelodge at Haymarket? Just over £100 a night and you can walk to Princes Street?

EachandEveryone · 29/09/2023 15:15

That’s not the new years price I’m sure it was double that when I looked earlier

What’s your budget? Might be able to help more with that?

EachandEveryone · 29/09/2023 17:38

I was hoping £160 a room but everywhere is looking about £200

Ive provisionally booked PI in town and the one near the airport. One will be £325 each and the other £236. I dont know really as they both get good reviews

Have you tried the youth hostel? I’ve stayed there, they have private en suite rooms as well as dorms.

What about Mortonhall caravan park?
on lothian bus route
theyre open over Xmas and new year, they’ve got static caravans, shepherds huts to rent.

ratspeaker · 29/09/2023 19:00

Have you actually got tickets to let you into the Princes Street gig?
It’ll be separate from the street party tickets.

to figure out where to stay look at Lothian buses maps.
Remember there will be a reduced service but they do run special buses at Hogmanay.

I stayed in the hostel earlier this year and never saw another person. It was like a hotel, I checked in and dropped my stuff in the room. Went out, came back and had a great nights sleep for £40. It did look like there was a nice eating area downstairs but I didn’t hang out. It was quiet, nicer than a travelodge.

This is new years eve though😃
