How to stop kids losing their uniform?

My son is 4. He's been in school for 3 weeks. He's lost two jumpers, a pair of shoes when he had PE, his tie and has come home with the wrong coat. I have no money. I'm scouring Facebook marketplace for second hand stuff. He has suspected adhd and struggles with losing things. I've spoken to school about it and they're monitoring. The sendco also said adhd fits after spending time with him last week. Not sure how relevant all of that is. Is this just part of it all? Having to buy school uniform every month because it all gets lost?

I would start with the school. If they are bonkers enough to have 4 year olds changing for PE then they need to have processes in place so kids don't lose shoes and ties. I would definitely complain about that. I would also be sending my child in with their own clothes until the items turn up. 😅Lost coats and jumpers are par for the course I'm afraid.

In my school and the school my children go to they don't do official PE until the summer term and they wear their PE kit into school on those days which minimizes the lost property and maximizes PE time.

As a school admin, I would say make sure everything is labeled twice and very clearly. I know some parents embroider clothing with the child's initial or surname, and personalize everything. (Make friends with someone with a cricuit?!) Iron on letters are good for things like school bags and PE bags (maybe try them inside the coat too?) Colourful thin ribbons (cut them out of the hanging loops on your clothes) tied into a loop on the laundry label will (1) make it more recognisable to your child (2) a visual clue to other child/parents that it's not their coat (3) Make it easier for your child to hang it on their peg.

Also take photos of everything before it goes into school so you can harass the school

I understand your frustration, and hope you get the bits back.

So annoying when school uniform gets lost or taken! My daughter ( only child ) has just turned 8 just started year 3. I always make sure her stuff is all labelled and make sure I check she has everything like cardigan, water bottle, and anything else in her bag before we leave the school now! Been many of times from nursery right up to year 2 where things were lost or taken like her cardigans. Even having names in cardigans or jumpers still doesn't matter though, as someone had taken her cardigans a few times with her name in. And missing items will never turn up in lost property! You'll find parents will cross the names out, and just keep for their kids! Happens a lot in my school, pain in the neck though so expensive!
