Do you cook something different for dinner every night?

Just wondering what other people do... I tend to cook a recipe either for myself or for my partner and I.. it always makes at least 4 portions once I work out the nutritional info etc. Makes sense as well to get multiple portions from the effort and washing up etc 😅 (this makes it sound like I don't enjoy cooking when I do - but I mean from a time perspective)

So often end up having 2-3 meals of the same thing in a week. Unless I freeze it. I also find it quite cumbersome to organise 5 different dinners every night (I wing it on the weekends).

I'm starting to meal plan, repeat more for breakfast/lunches and aim for more variety at dinner time and this led me to thinking I wonder how everyone else is doing it 🤔

If you have a dinner that's different every evening, do you tend to eat the same thing for breakfast/lunch?

I’m the opposite, never meal plan so buy what is on offer. It’s rare to have left overs as I cook for the right amount.

The one thing I have very often is bran flakes for breakfast, sometimes with milk and sometimes more natural yogurt with some on top.

I only cook for myself most times, cooking for one is wasteful so everything is 2-4 person portions with spares going into the freezer and/or fridge depending on its fate. In any 7 day period its rare for me to have the same thing twice. I built a nice selection of meals and snacks during 2020 trying to do something new as many days as possible

To avoid getting bored I will try to cook new things or new versions of things as often as possible. So once cooked I might eat those 2-4 portions within a few weeks or couple of months, but once those are eaten that thing will be off the menu for a lot of months. Maybe rest of the year

Breakfast is the only exception to this, I have one of about 3-4 cereals most mornings because I don't have the energy for excitement. Just need some carbs and coffee to spring me into life. I will push the boat out from time to time, I got a lovely recipe for a spicy tofu scramble. On its own or as part of a full breakfast. If I'm too lazy for making some oat milk I might opt for a few slices of toast with one of the spreads I got in my collection

I would never have the same thing twice in a row, I just wouldn't fancy it. Leftovers for lunch are okay but never twice the same evening meal

Yes we have something different for every meal.

For Breakfast and Lunch everyone chooses what they'd like and for dinner we have a meal plan I usually try not to repeat an evening meal more than once a month unless it's something everyone requests for a second time.

If it’s something that reheats well, I make 4 portions and we have it for dinner and then lunch next day. But yes, rarely have same dinner within a week or two. Will make a large portion of chilli/curry/ragu and freeze in 2-person portions

Yes I do. I really don't like the same meal two days in a row, which is silly I know, but it's just the way I feel. My parents were the leftover king and queen so I think they put me off for life. I am not very good at batch cooking either but will make enough for DS to take a large portion into work the next day. When adult DS cooks he usually does enough for two meals but changes it a bit so it is not identical. Daily cooking isn't too much of a chore as I like cooking except for meal planning which is a drag.
