At the risk of being made redundant - what kind of preparation shall I do now

Had a 1-2-1 with my line manager this morning and just learned that the company is going through a massive restructure and many jobs will be at the risk, including mine.

I have about 2-3 months before it happens, so I wonder what kind of preparation shall I do now to reduce the impact. Updating my CV obviously being no.1.

I guess it is psychological upsetting and a shock too. I work in Tech in London.

Any advise is welcome. Thank you very much.

While you are in situ and have access to any stats or KPI type data, make yourself some notes to go alongside any future job applications/interviews - eg be able to say I contributed to XYZ which had a XX% rise or whatever. Use the evidence while you still have access to it. Find out what support your company might offer in terms of helping you move on, time off for interviews etc. Get advice on what your statutory rights are - the ACAS website might be a good start. Find out what package you can expect so you know if you have a bit of breathing space or whether you need to find something else ASAP.
It is a tough position to be in (I've been there) and while all the advice is, it's not about you as a person, it's business, it can definitely be a tough blow. So much of how we feel about ourselves and our self worth can be wrapped up in what we do for a living! For what it's worth, I worked in an industry which was notorious for redundancies. The vast majority of people I know who were affected went on to find great opportunities and now look back and realise it was a positive (very much with the benefit of hindsight and not at all at the time!)
Good luck.
