I went to the doctors this morning, in week three of a chest infection. She said my test was clear and I had a upper respiratory viral infection that takes around three weeks to go. And that maybe I should've been resting for the last week or two and it would've cleared by now...

I am fed up of the pain in my back and the constant unproductive cough. I just need it gone

She said to get honey and lemon to drink and a cough suppressant.
Pharmacist has given me a cough, suppressant, (which, rather alarmingly says it's addictive) and said I can use it for three days. But the pharmacist said get manuka honey how's that has anti-viral properties

The supermarket I called in to only have normal honey which I've got and I am drinking with lemon, it's vile. Is it worth me getting this manuka honey from somewhere because it looks very expensive

So the magic cure is lemon, hot water, local honey, fresh ginger, apple cider vinegar, nigella/black cumin and cinnamon? Just making notes for the winter…

and a slug of gin 😁

I find this thread astonishing. You actually managed to get to see a doctor.

😂😂😂

Mine are pretty good actually
Can mostly get an appt same day, there are some advance appts but not many

Several on site nurses and an in house pharmacist

Lots of ways to access a GP too, and each GP has a specialty

Hi i must say i agree with others who have said Manuka honey is not all it was made out to be. Plus the higher the concentration the more pricey.
I have been very lucky at times to get raw honey from Albania, and hope I can get some more.
I would say no don't go for the 59p squeezy bottle ones, but yes honey is honey, i am suprised you don't like the taste of the honey and lemon together, with the right mix it's nice.
Better than those powders with whatever else they put in etc.

Lidl's do get Manuka honey in which is usually £5.99 I think.

I buy local honey. Usually available in local privately owned chemists. Even our butchers stocks it sometimes. Less than £7 a jar

I'm going to go against the grain on the Manuka honey arguments here... my friend's son was in Birmingham Childrens Hospital for open heart surgery. They used Manuka honey around the wound - so it must do something!

That said I wouldn't be spending £90 per 10ml! Just get local honey. Also recommend zinc tablets. Oh and the doctor said rest!

Honey does not " go off"

Sealed pots of honey have been found in ancient Egyptian burial tombs & have been found to be OK to eat.

Plus whisky! Wonderful hot toddy

lemsip Max strength, benylin max cough mixture, a facial steamer with menthol and a Gua sha stone is my recommendation. Obvs dependent on what meds you’ve been prescribed but Manuka is v pricey and ime not as effective as this.
