Older child hurt my child, child's mum doesn't care

I took my dd to the park yesterday and whilst there some older children turned up. My dd is 6 and the older children are 12/13.

At one point one of the older boys kicked a ball really hard in our direction. Luckily it didn't hit dd. We moved to the other side so we were completely out of their way. A short while after dd said something hit her head. I looked and saw a stone on the floor by dd. I looked over to the older children and they were looking our way. They then went quiet and rode off on their bikes.

This isn't the first time this has happened. They have never hurt dd up until now but we've had many close calls.

I don't think it's targeted at us as this particular group are often in the mix when trouble happens.

Anyway, I saw the mum of the child that kicked the football and took a chance to tell her what happened. I also said how dd was hit by a stone and I think it was either her child or their friend that did it. The group consists of three of her children and their friend.
The mum just stared at me and shrugged. She really couldn't have cared less.

What should I do about it? Should I avoid that park? It's a shame as it's close and dds favorite one. Or should I talk to the mum again?

confront the kids yourself, only thing that seems to work

Most likely this Mum is not going to change her attitude or her son’s behaviour. Not fair but that’s life.
personally I would either avoid/leave the park
If that group are there OR could you try to make a ‘friend’ of the Mum and introduce yourself to her lad? Act like you think he would never do shit like that and innocently make a nuisance of yourself to him and his friends by chatting to him/them. But if he’s too scary then just avoid.
