Hi everyone need some information as I am stuck been with my partner for 11+ years and would love him to visit the uk for 6 months until we decide to actually either I move there or he moves here

I have loads of pictures and evidence of me visiting him over the few years flight information, pictures , message conversations call logs , phone top ups etc

I am on universal credit at the moment and not working my partner does work and gets money in his bank account I was told someone on benefits doesn't need to provide proof of salary but can someone please go through the steps on what to do it where the first steps to take many thanks also he will be applying from Jamaica x

Surely if you both live in different countries, you're not ‘partners’, more like penpals!
He’s the one applying, so he has to pay the fees. ($129 I believe)

Also, if hes living with you for 6 months you’ll have to declare it to UC and will lose benefits.

@Soontobe60 not if the person has enough funds to care for them self Ny partner will be funding his own trip my sister married a man she has disability and is unable to work and they never made her lose benefits of her payments

@Soontobe60 lol penpals if that's what you want to call it that's fine ... please don't judge other's relationships

If he's supporting his own trip will you need to get involved at all? Or will he be staying with you? Will he be expected to pay you some kind of 'rent' if he is?

Your income is relevant when it's a spousal visa, as it is a visitors visa it's all on him.
He should apply for his visa and be able to show he has funds to support himself while here, will be going back home (usually a job or other commitments), he doesn't intend to work etc.
So long as he has an income and commitments to go home to he should be able to get a short term visitors visa
