How much do you pack for a 2 night trip?

I'm taking a work trip next week. It's only 2 nights so figured I'd only need hand luggage but... my holdall is looking very full and feeling very heavy!

How much do you normally take for a couple of nights trip?

Wearing comfy clothes on the flight out.
An outfit for the first evening, planning to go out with colleagues.
Jeans + jumper for day 1 wear.
A dress for evening out with colleagues again.
Jumpsuit for the day 2 wear.
Planning to wear the comfies home again but packed a spare tshirt just in case.

Undies x2 pairs per day.
Pyjamas x1 pair.
1 pair of more formal work/going out shoes.

Struggling to fit all my toiletries/liquids into the tiny 20x20 bag... shampoo, conditioner, face wash, body wash, deodorant, perfume, moisturiser, nasal spray (needed), makeup, toothpaste.

Not bothering with a hairdryer.. hotel surely has one. Need straighteners, hairbrush, bobbles, hair clips.

I've been told before that I overpack, but is this normal or not?

1 spare skirt, 4 pairs of knickers, 1 nightie, deodorant, brush, soap, small shampoo,2 tops

Oh and jeans and jumped are really bulky . If they are comfortable, wear them on the two travel days ( with tee shirt under obv). If not then leave them at home and take trousres that work for both travel days and the night out with a nicer top.

You are taking about double the amount of clothes you need. You need a mix and match wardrobe, clothes have to multi task, NOT 5 complete outfits - 2 per day plus a travel outfit.

Oh and don’t rely on picking up what you need in boots. Do a click and collect order online , make sure you choose airside Boots. But I’d not recommend this for a short trip because you will have to throw things away before you come home , which is wasteful.

It’s fine for a family of 4 going away for 2 weeks, when you will use up a big bootleg of suncream or mouthwash.

Oh god, if they've booked you a hold bag use that and save yourself lugging everything around in hand luggage only.

Knowing my luck, I'd go through all this angst just to have something go wrong and my case will end up getting lost Grin

Yeah, it's a bit of a risk checking luggage with a connecting flight, hold bags don't always make it onto the second flight.

I unexpectedly had to check a bag on a flight like this and I was only going for one night. The people who I was going to see often said that bags didn't make it when I told them what had happened.

I picked my bag up when I went back to the airport to come home again.

Check a case in then you don't have to worry

I don't understand the problem. You have a huge luggage allowance and you aren't trying to do this to avoid paying. Just check in a hold bag. Emergency pants and change of clothes in hand luggage and all your toiletries and clothes in the hold. It may add 30 minutes to the trip but worth it IMO.

Clean pants and couple of clean tops.

If you're just transferring planes, you don't usually go through security again do you?

It depends on the country/airport. In some places transit passengers go through security again.
