Why on earth was I so drunk last night?

I went out to celebrate my birthday last night and drank what would normally be not too much alcohol to be really drunk and I was absolutely smashed! DP is angry with me for being annoying and super drunk. I had two small glasses of wine with a big dinner and lots of water too, then afterwards over a period of around 3/4 hours I had a gin and tonic, a glass of cava and a champagne cocktail. I've woken up with the worst hangover I've had for years, had a complete blackout of the end of the night and am in the doghouse for god knows what. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I've just hit 45, so is this my body telling me I just can't drink any more. I'm about to come on my period, so I don't know if this is something that would affect tolerance. I've never had a massive tolerance for alcohol as I'm quite small and slim, so am generally careful to stay within my limits these days. I was ok at the bar, but just lost the plot on the way home in the car 😟

Brandy, wine, champagne, gin.. that's alot of mixing !
no wonder you're hangin 😆

Yep, I'm clearly at the age now where I should just stick to wine with a meal, plenty of water and home afterwards 😁

I've been there loads of times.

I get more drunk around my period.

The mixing is not good.

It happens, not the end of the world.

I have learned the very hard way that I cannot, cannot mix gin and champagne. The combination you had, in the order you had it, would've floored me and a I have a reasonably high tolerance.
