Waiting for Colposcopy and travel insurance

Had an abnormal smear with low grade dyskaryosis. This is after three HPV+ smears

Now as traumatising as that is alone, we have travel plans and are insured through our bank. How will this be affected?

Will I be covered at all? We travel end of October but there is "up To a 10 week wait" for a colposcopy.

Obviously i can call them but don't want to unless i am full informed.

I am waiting for a hospital scan. With my travel insurance, they won’t cover anything relating to that scan, but everything else is covered. All my health conditions are declared, but this upcoming appointment means it is an unknown. You have to declare it, though.

Thank you @wellandtruly that is reassuring.

I have seen a few where if you area waiting for any hospital tests they wont insure you. I'm sorry you are waiting for a scan too. Flowers

All you can do is contact them and tell them the situation.

You can take out a specialist policy in most cases to cover a specific issue. Of course you pay more but if you think there's any possibility of having an emergency related to the condition then this specialist insurance is worth it. You keep the general insurance for everything else, so it is an additional policy.
If there's no chance of the condition affecting you on holiday then declare it and accept it won't be covered.
I've done both options in the past depending on how likely I think it is that the health issue would require emergency treatment.

I'm slightly confused about PPs saying anything to do with the scan won't be covered. If the OP didn't already have travel insurance and was trying to take out a new policy then of course more policies won't cover whatever the scan finds as they won't know what it is they are covering. But as the OP already had an insurance policy, surely the company have already taken on the risk of the OP developing a new health issue/having accident/illness which may cause the holiday to have to be cancelled? Isn't that the whole point of travel insurance? So that once you have taken out the insurance, if you then have a new health issue, need some tests, then are diagnosed with something that means you can no longer go on holiday, you can claim your money back? Otherwise what's the point of it?

I am now off to check the T&Cs of my annual policy as you all have me worried that it may not cover what i think it covers.

@RichardMarxisinnocent yes you are correct that when you take out a policy you declare any conditions and these may or may not be covered or covered for a fee.

The problem is most insurers wont insure you if you are awaiting tests.

My insurance is through my bank so its a rolling contract with an annual upgrade /medical screening. We have medical screening in this for one condition each (high blood pressure -covered free -and sciatica - not covered). this is up for renewal or review in the next few weeks and i will have to redo the medical screening.

Yes, but if anything changes as regards your health, you need to let them know. I have an annual travel insurance policy too. Once I have had my scan, I need to contact them with the results, and hopefully they will cover me again for that particular element.
