Leaving my baby for bedtime

Hi,

So, I've left my baby a couple of times, once to see Harry Styles which she stay at home with her dad so he did the bedtime and then once for a couple of hours in the day with my mum at her house. Both times once I was out I felt okay but couldn't wait to get back to her.

On the 6th October, me and my partner have tickets to see a comedian so my sister is having her for a few hours until we're home. My daughter will be nearly 9 months old when we go, she's breastfed so she sleeps best on me and with me co-sleeping. She's very much a mummy's girl.

Anyway, I know its not healthy not to be able to leave your baby at all, but I'm really struggling on making a decision on if I should go, I worry that she will feel abandoned and will be upset the whole time I'm gone.

What would you guys do? I do suffer with anxiety which has got worse since having her.

Thank you in advance.

She will not feel abandoned. She'll not be upset the entire time. Go and have fun have some "me" time. Don't let the feelings you have stop you from leaving her.
She is undoubtedly the most important person in your life but you and your partner also need to time to just be together.
she'll be safe and loved whilst you're out.

Honestly, it's healthy not to want to leave your baby! Don't let people make you feel like it's not the most natural thing in the world. Attachment is great.

That being said, she'll be fine and you'll enjoy the night and how happy she'll be when you get back!

My dd is like yours and I've only left her when absolutely necessary with my DH. She does cry a little going to sleep but he's her dad and I'm always back soon.

When my son was nine months old we left him with my mum and dad for five days when we went to Venice for work. He was fine :)

Your little one will be ok. It's ok to go and do something for yourself :)

She'll be absolutely fine. It will be good for you and your partner to have some time together and just be a couple.

Mine is 9 months and I work FT so he goes to nursery full time as well as occasionally having sleepovers with Grandparents. We still have a wonderful bond and having a life outside of my baby absolutely hasn't changed that.

I wouldn’t say it’s unhealthy. You do what you feel suits you both.

I never left my children overnight until they were 14 and 15 (with their dad/ my DH) because I didn’t want to be away from them and I didn’t think DH would look after them properly. (I am a self confessed smother mother).

They left me though. They slept away from home to have sleepovers and go on school trips once they were at primary school and never missed me 🤷🏼‍♀️

This year I left DS16 alone completely. He is my youngest and still mummy’s baby (at 6’1” 😉)

Its definitely not unhealthy to not want to leave your baby! Don't go if you would rather be at home with your baby, they are only little once

I wouldn’t go! My DD is 11 months old but I’ve also got a 6 year old DS and I don’t leave him at bedtime either. I have done in the past but not often and not until he was about 3. I won’t leave DD until she’s about the same age. They’re only little for a short time.
