Has anyone switched their career for a NMW low stress job?

I had a breakdown and a burnout. It was horrific and I've tried to knuckle down and get on with work since recovering. But I seem to be scarred with an inability to cope with a heavy workload. And stress.

Thing is I adore working. Love having colleagues, meeting people, having a skill etc.

I was wondering if anyone has quit their decent career and swapped for another job with much less / zero stress?

I dont know what I want. But one where you don't bring the mental load home with you. I can walk all day if needed. And I'm happy with NMW.

Preferably no more desk job.

Any ideas?

Sending hugs with no concrete advice. Just to be careful, because a lot of NMW jobs are very high stress.

Yes low pay doesn't equal low stress

I quit a high stress job but not to NMW because as many people say that's really stressful.

It's just about finding the next best fit for you, I tried teaching which I thought I would love but full time it was too much.

I work now in a charity and it's less money, I had to sort my finances to do it. But I'm so glad I switched

That's so true. I did waitressing while studying and it's the hardest job in the world. The kitchen was full of shouting, heat and noise. Everyone rushing

The customers were awful.

I've dropped to 3 days but Im still stressed. I have realised I'll never be the same as I was pre breakdown & I need to change course.

A 5 year degree down the shitter but life happens 😊

Sending hugs. I'm in a similar situation to you.

I actually resigned recently. I didn't have a full breakdown but I was pretty deep in burnout. Financially I am in a position not to work for a couple of months. I'm lucky in that sense. I needed to remove myself to heal and gain some objective perspective on what I want to do. I anguished over it for months before I made the decision.

I'm not sure if it was the right decision. I know on paper I can walk back into a similar role and level but my confidence isn't there at the moment and im not sure if it something i want to pursue anymore. I'm considering lower level positions in a different industry. Something which might be less intense but I'm worried I may become bored. I'm also used to being the decision maker and not sure how I feel about potentially not have authority over my own work.

I hope you find the answers you need.

@Kanoe2 you made me evaluate every job in the business. They're ALL stressful regardless of salary.

So....I need a new sector. ☹️ might take a while to figure it out

Could you apply for head office jobs? A friend of mine studied business fashion but has worked in head offices for companies such as well known clothing or car companies.
