Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm in my usual kitchen spot, just drinking my first cuppa of the day and deciding on breakfast. The window's flung open, as always, so I can hear what's going on outside. Usually there's a pair of wood pigeons pootling about on the fence but they're not about yet.

I've got the washer on for dd2's uniform & there are a few pots to be done but nothing else house-work related today I don't think.

I'm off out with my work bestie for a walk and cuppa to celebrate being able to go back to work after October half term 🥳

Both girls have homework to do - dd2 will more than likely need some help with the maths, although maybe not, she managed last week!.

Later on will be whatever's decided on for tea while I'm out, then some more beading for me, while listening to Food Network.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning! (Just!) Congrats on your return to work @lucysmam :)

We had a very exciting morning in our house today as the tooth fairy came for the very first time! DD presumably swallowed her tooth in her sleep as she woke up yesterday with a gap and no tooth in sight, so we wrote the tooth fairy a letter to explain and she very graciously left DD £1 in spite of the missing tooth. She bought herself a chocolate lolly after dancing and then we went to the library to choose some new books for the week.

I’m taking the kids to soft play this afternoon while DH does some cleaning in peace, then I think we will have pasta and garlic bread for tea. Once DD is in bed we are planning to watch Strictly and drink some canned cocktails from M and S (surprisingly nice!) while DS sleeps in his Moses basket in the living room. Early night for me as I’ll be doing the 3am bottle.

Afternoon! I’ve always wanted to post on here so finally doing it, love reading what everyone is up to.

Got up just after 6 when DD (1 year) woke up, brought her into bed for a few snuggles and then had breakfast all together in kitchen. Then we got out the door and drove to our near(ish)by seaside town for a walk along the beach with a hot chocolate for me & coffee for DH while baby slept! It’s starting to feel really autumnal here so was lovely.

On way home now and will grab some leftovers for lunch and then I’m making a pork and apple casserole for tea tonight so will start that this afternoon, probably while watching new series of Virgin River as I cook.

Need to do some prepping and washing because we’re heading to Centre Parcs on Monday for a wee holiday - can’t wait! Then it’ll be usual bedtime routine for the baby and then we’ll eat our casserole when she’s down, might watch Strictly (but DH not enthused 🤣) or else something else on TV before bed.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone! Thanks @lucysmam for always doing this thread! :)

I'm late to the thread today as this is the first time I've sat down - went for my run this morning then had a good blitz of the kitchen and bathroom and put the clothes mountain away that has been growing in our bedroom all week.

Fantastic news @lucysmam - I hope you've enjoyed celebrating today.

The rest of the day is quiet for me - Dh has taken ds1 to rugby - I've decided I can only manage one away match in a weekend so it's ds2's turn tomorrow this week.
Ds2 is meeting a friend in a while so I'll have a precious couple of hours with the house to myself. I need to catch up on some work but would much rather sit in the garden with a book.
Singapore noodles for dinner and ds1's gf is round. Ds2 thinks he's going to a party but unless he gives me some information about where it is and who is going that is unlikely to happen!

@Simonjt are the children feeling better now? I had to google fika, it sounds like a nice way to spend some time 😊

@Ariela you've been busy! All of it sounds devine 😋 Is lemon curd easy to make?

Their right as rain and have been very efficient at passing their germs on. Enjoy being back at work, it will be nice to be back in your normal routine.

Drews · 23/09/2023 13:21

Just back from a run to the tip to get rid of a load of random stuff that has been cluttering up the utility room. Now having some lunch then will clear up the garden and plant some daffodils.

Hello everyone, lovely to read about everyone's day. Im unfortunately at work...

lucysmam · 23/09/2023 20:25

Well, my favourite colleague was very sneaky! It wasn't a walk round some local nice gardens and a cuppa in the cafe there - it was afternoon tea with 9 of my colleagues and friends to celebrate me finishing chemo last week & being given the ok to go back to work. Very sneaky but I'm feeling very loved and cared for right now 🥰

I'm just half watching A Discovery Of Witches, and about to pick up my beading for an hour or so. Hopefully I can get a fair bit of this middle section done before my sequins arrive!

I hope you've all had a nice day 😊
