Chickenpox - is this really a thing?!

DS came home from nursery with a fever, has had coldy sniffles all week. Then a few spots appeared, I think 5-6 but none on his tummy or back, all face and arms and legs.
chickenpox has been doing the rounds so assumes that would be it.

however temp broke over night and as far as I can see he has no new spots this morning.

just been speaking to a friend and she said this can happen and then two weeks later the “proper” chicken pox arrives. Is this a thing? I’ve never heard of it and we go abroad in exactly two weeks!!

You are right, it's been many years since mine had it. I will ask for my post to be removed.

Chicken pox incubation period is almost exactly 14 days. So if there are children off of nursery with chicken pox at the moment, your DC probably wouldn't show symptoms for another 10+ days.

Both of mine have had it mildly. I’m convinced my second has had it twice (once as a baby and then a few years later). Both only had a few spots really and were feeling well overall. I’ve seen many children with a much worse case- often siblings. Some people are just luckier than others re pox so there is every chance your little one has just got it mildly and then won’t have issues again.
