‘Feels like down’ duvet

Has anyone got one of these? I would love a down duvet but feel bad about the birds. Are the ‘feels like down’ versions any good? And any brand/shop recommendations please?

John Lewis - delightful

Following as I need one too. I think I have read about one from Next but I think it was about £80 or £90 so would love to hear of it is any good.

We have had down and wool duvets over the years and now have a few Snuggledown duvets of different weights and am very happy with them! Not gone flat and are light and supple like down.

Just to clarify - the synthetic versions! Very reasonably priced especially on ebay

Soak and Sleep. At least two house guests have asked where I got my pillows and duvets because they're so nice.

Get a wool one, you won't regret it. We have Baavet - look in their Seconds for bargains.

@LongBoi do you know if yours is a Microfibre one (with silk?) or the polyester one?

Interesting… does it feel all puffy like a down one?

It's the basic polyester one. We have to have hypoallergenic duvets/pillows because DD is allergic to feathers and you really can't tell the difference. I started to feel a bit ick about the down too.

For our bed, though, I've got a wool duvet from Woolroom - cool in summer, warm in winter, it's got a lovely weight to it. Not the same feel as a big flooffy duvet - flatter and heavier - but I wouldn't go back now. We've also got a wool mattress topper and it is SO cosy in the cooler months.

Not as puffy, no, but the wool is loosely laid out - I'd call it 'lofty', and stitched in panels, so unlike down you don't end up with duvet outer one end and heap of down inside it at the other end - so no need to shake it out as much.
As @LongBoi says, it's warm in winter cool in summer and weight-wise it's not too heavy not too light, and the structure means it stays where you put it far better than down.

I've had a Dorma feels like down one for about 13 years. Still soft and fluffy, not quite as downy as actual feathers but feels much nicer than the ordinary polyester one it replaced.

OnAFrolicOfMyOwn · 21/09/2023 19:09

I had a down one for a while (ethically produced) but wouldn't get one again, they're just not as soft and comfy as microfibre ones.
