Been to the GP about heart palpitations I’ve been having for a while now. I was put forward for a self-monitoring ECG machine which I had to use to record my heart rate whenever I thought I felt them, for one month. One of the readings said possible Atrial Fibrillation, the rest said normal (all done with an app on my phone so I can see them). I could see the raised/jumpy bits (not that I know how to read an ecg but just that it wasn’t steady) Anyway this was analysed by the Cardiology dept and the GP got the results that said all fine.
GP suggested getting a blood test to check it’s not something else causing the palpitations. Got the results and told I am 0.01 over in thyroid function, i.e a minor amount into the category where it’s a problem. So she has suggested another test in 3 months time to see if it really is/still is. This was Wednesday and she called me today to say she’d spoken to the other GPs at the practice and they suggested I trial a drug to see if it helps with the palpitations.
I feel like we haven’t investigated enough other reasons for it though. I have tried cutting out caffeine but Google tells me sugar can cause palpitations and actually some other foods that I eat regularly too. Also low blood sugar can cause it and I don’t think I’ve been tested for this.
Sorry this is really long so I’ll leave it there and just ask, does/did anyone get palpitations after eating and how did they get to the bottom of it?
