What did your child want to be vs what is their job now?

I’d love to know 🥰 ds currently wants to be an explorer!

I wanted to be an artist and went into education (creative section).

DD announced at age 4 that she wanted to be a police officer. She's now 15 and is a Police Cadet and is hoping to get the GCSEs to get into the local college to do a policing course. If she fails her GCSEs she will do a lower level public service course instead and hopefully retake her GCSEs and find a way to make it through to a job with the police eventually.

When DS1 was about four, he desperately wanted to be a pelican when he grew up! Sulking ensued when we pointed out this was not a viable goal in life. At 19, he now wants to get into CAD as a career, which is much more achievable 🙂

My DS wanted to be an ice cream man and is a paramedic!
I suppose the vehicles are similar!!

My DS wanted to be a train driver. He was obsessed with trains all through his childhood.

He's now 23 and gone through Uni and got a First class degree and can't decide what he wants to do! All he knows is he wants to do something in tech. He's currently working for a mobile phone company until he decides.

My youngest wanted to be a pigeon trainer! Is now 22 with crippling anxiety and on Universal Credit - so could still train pigeons?!!

I don't have kids. 😰 but I wanted to be a nurse. And I'm a paediatric nurse. Best job ever!

DD1 announced that she was going to be a doctor at 4 years of age. She's a doctor :)
DD2 Was undecided between being a teacher or a nurse. Now a paediatric hospice nurse in her dream job.
DS1 just wanted to play his music. He has a day job but is also making music (and some money out of it)
DS2 was unlikely to ever have a job... (special needs) but he works in a supermarket and is bloody amazing!

Born into a family of financial workers - I'm 4th generation, but from a young age I was obsessed with motor racing... so it's fitting I work in finance.... in motor racing 😁😁😁

DSD wanted to be a nurse and she's now studying nursing at university.

DS1 wants to "work in a zoo to release the caged animals".... so will see where he ends up... perhaps the news? Lol

I wanted to be a pathologist in a mortuary (weird kid) - am a scientist in a hospital.
DD1 - A singer on the west end - is a scientist
DD2 - a writer - is training to be a counsellor.
DS - something computery- is something computery.

My dd wanted to be a Doctor, Nurse or teacher, she is a trainee teacher.

Ds wanted to be a bank manager from a really young age. He works in finance but has never worked in a bank. Dd wanted to do something creative and arty but definitely not with children, she worked in a bank but now works in pensions.

I remember being asked this question when I was around 8 years old in school.
I proudly stood up and announced that when I grew up I wanted to be Michelle Pheiffer In Grease 2!! It hasn't happened yet but I remain hopeful.

DS wanted to stay home and play computer games ….now WFH as games designer !
DD wanted to travel then write about it to pay for the next trip ….. she’s still travelling and getting paid rather well to write about it. I’m pleased for them - more pleased for me now I’m retired though . Never liked my job .

DD wanted to be a news reader. She thought it would be cool to ‘know the news before everyone else’. She works in marketing now
