Very dubious about the medical care I received today...

The doctor was very clumsy when using medical instruments, only spoke basic English and looked blankly at me when I asked if he was registered with the GMC. I've since heard him shouting about absolutely nothing! I'm not really sure that my diagnosis of 'poorly arms spots' is trustworthy. However, I do approve of his prescribed course of treatment - bed rest - even if I wish it hadn't been accompanied by alternative treatments (being gently hit with a plastic hammer).

I'm surprised hes working today? Did he cross the picket line?

cruffinsmuffin · 20/09/2023 17:36

He's not even wearing gloves or a stethoscope - I think you've been had by one of these physicians assistants posing as a DR!

lookingforMolly · 20/09/2023 17:44

He's wearing a white coat with long sleeves- call the infection control nurse to tell him off!!

(So cute!!)

I think we will be seeing more and more of these ‘new spangly doctors’.Apparently, I’ve heard ( friend of a friends aunties uncles nephew) that they’ve agreed a contract with the NHS where they are going to be paid in Haribos as part of a cost cutting exercise.

He did also have this assistant that joined him later on but he was a concern too - I think the guy had literally just left school and he seemed to have his jumper on backwards...

Oh God OP, you’re making me toddler broody!

He will make a super Dr one day!

PuppyMonkey · 20/09/2023 17:58

Did you have to ring him at 8am to get an appointment and wait on the phone for an hour to get through?Grin

Ah, now I will say that in praise of this doctor. He was available for appointments much earlier in the morning than 8am...

My doctor (son) used to suggest trimming my hair when I was sick. He said it would cure me.

Ah so he still subscribed to the old 'barber surgeon' school of thought?

When I had flu . my Dr (usually a lovely empathetic young lady) swiped my blanket and my glass of squash (for herself , not another patient )

Admitedly she was 4yo and had just put in a full day shift at Reception School and had to make-do with The Dinner What Daddy Made , so this was her pulling a double shift ... but even so Grin

I remember attending one similar “surgery” where, as well as treating human patients, the Dr also seemed to be able to diagnose and treat a selection of bears, a small elephant and any number of monkeys and puppies. It was quite concerning.
He also syringed me repeatedly with air as well as using an otoscope to look into my eye.
I had attended for “poorly tummy” and yet left with a bandaged head.
It’s broken Britain I tell you.

RoonilWazlib21 · 20/09/2023 18:31

My Dr used to prescribe 'tape and glue' no matter what they diagnosed me with 🤔

EducatingArti · 20/09/2023 18:34

I got a liberal application of bath bubbles on my poorly arm that had got scratches because I had "run through the brambles in the forest" and was told " if you rest it, it will get better but if you don't it won't."

UselessGardener · 20/09/2023 18:35

Ah, the old 'hit it with a hammer' treatment. Surprisingly helpful and getting the patient up and out of bed to make the doctor a snack!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 20/09/2023 18:38

OMG he’s useless! He hasn’t even noticed you urgently need to be referred to a Faceologist for your missing fizzog !

MumofSpud · 20/09/2023 18:53

I didn't clock at all even when I saw the pic - I think I am v tired!

BlondeFool · 20/09/2023 18:54

Scab. He crossed the picket line.

Aaah a (very!) Junior doctor.
I hope he prescribed you with some form of iron OP, you're looking extremely pale there...
