I treated my mum and sister to a show in town, they've took it on themselves to book a hotel and are now asking for £70 for my share even though I said no? (live half an hour from venue) Am I losing my mind or is this bang out of order? How to respond without ruining the night

It is absolutely out of order. Tell them to cancel the hotel, if they can't, tough luck . (I bet it's the last time you treat them)

It's not clear if your family need a hotel to see the show or would just like one

If they can't see the show without staying in an hotel then you were unreasonable

We had agreed to get a taxi home afterwards i thought, no where near a £200 for the taxi they just fancy one

I'd say no thank you I'm planning to get a taxi

That is really out of order!
I'd feel like my kind gift wasn't good enough
I'd say No thanks, it was always the plan to get a taxi home
They stay, they pay!
