Posting here as had no response on the holiday board.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what the weather will be like in Albufeira in March?

I've just come back from Falaraki and sometimes the heat was too much so I don't mind if it won't be boiling.

Is it at least T-Shirt weather during the day?

I've booked now so not really much I can do about it anyway but I'm hoping it will be warm as this holiday is more about exploring and doing things rather than lounging by the pool and we aren't very beachy anyway as we literally live next to the beach and can see the sea from our window lol.

Last thing, any must see or must do suggestions? It'll be me and my son, 11 :)

Thank you!!!

I think it’s usually mid-teens to low-20s during the day, low teens at night.

Will you have a car?

MrsDukeOfHastings · 20/09/2023 14:06

Ah ok, that's still alright! Nope no car, I don't tend to drive when outside the UK...scares me haha

I went at the end of April. It was great. T shirt weather for me, though I had a hoody packed. But not hot, I was able to do lots of walking and exploring. It isn't lying on the beach weather though and if you get cold easily you may need a hoody.
If you are going without a car, I'd consider making sure you're somewhere with lots of unbeachy un water sports things to do (its a bit chilly for that). I was in Lagos which is beautiful to explore, and I had some nice day trips with public transport.
The best bit aside from the weather was the lack of crowds. No lines and easy to do things spontaneously.

There are some nice day trips you can do from Albufeira on the bus, which are generally pretty good.

Silves is about 45 minutes from Albufeira, it has a castle, lots of architecture, little cobbled streets with nice cafes. Would definitely recommend.

Loule is also about 45 mins on the bus but in the other direction. Lovely market town - on a Saturday there are multiple markets and it has a great buzz.

Faro is a bit further on the bus but the historic centre is interesting and a boat trip to the Ria Formosa is great to see wildlife.

Thank you for all the suggestions I like the idea of moving around. I'm quite excited now.

I am less concerned about the weather because no doubt it'll be better than UK.
I
have another question if you dont mind, is there any supermarkets you can suggest? I went rogue and done self catering. I'm planning to eat out as I loooove Portuguese food but of course not every night.

Depends on exactly where you’re staying - there are good Lidl and Aldi and I like Continente too

Ginisatonic · 20/09/2023 15:26

We went to LIDL and Intermarche. The best supermarket by far was Apolonia - but it is very expensive.

MrsDukeOfHastings · 20/09/2023 18:29

I'm staying at Janelas do mar...I didn't realise there was an Aldi and Lidl so that's good.

At least there is a few options.
