New hobbies suggestions needed

I seem to have got into a rut of reading, watching TV/Netflix etc, going out, exercising etc but not any proper hobbies which I can lose myself in or which I enjoy. Or I seem to have forgotten them… Also, is it usual to let hobbies slide (eg you don’t have time/energy/motivation) to do them?

I used to love creative writing, making mosaics, painting etc. I think I’d like to try something new.

Hit me with hobbies you enjoy as I’d like some new ideas please!

Things on my list

  • Practising a headstand
  • Singing lessons. You can have them online. I had one and it was ace but I need to do homework and book another.
  • Listening to more books on Audible, I took out a subscription. I also listen to podcasts in my areas of interest
  • Possibly in the market for some new cookbooks
  • You mentioned exercise, I'm always looking for ways to challenge myself and set new goals. Recently had a sea swimming lesson. Would like a pool swimming lesson to improve technique
  • Joined National Trust
  • I'm on the look out for a Salsa class, also would like to try a badminton class, no idea if I will take them up but you have to try and see.

I found one in ebay. Sadly had a piece missing. I saw an ad about the manufacturer saying any ones bought (second hand) not complete they refund. I got a £20 voucher and gave it to an mner!! The Works sell good one!

Need some more direction. Do you want to relax, socialise, improve your body or mind, do good?

I think allotments are great for all of the above. Can be very sociable especially in good weather, try to find someone with one who'd like some help or a community garden rather than committing to your own.

I find crafts cause me anxiety and guilt, I love getting ideas and buying materials but feel bad about not enjoying it or not finishing it.

I enjoy going to the theatre and cinema, I have a regular friend for this but also go on my own and it's bliss once you stop feeling awkward.

My latest short term hobby is trying to curate my closet! I have so many clothes and nothing to wear so working through the book carefully, identifying missing pieces and searching on ebay ahd vinted. It's fun.

Actually Magnet Fishing (clearing up rivers) is a new one.

I am going to see more films at cinemas and art exhibitions at galleries as I love doing both those. It’s just when you get out of the habit, you know?

Actually someone’s set up a crochet/knitting group recently at a local pub, maybe that could be fun.

I crochet, read and play games like animal crossing. Depending on my mood. Crochet is great to feel productive but can still listen to music/have tv on etc, some great communities too

Learning a language. This is something I took up many years ago using online resources from home.

I have been doing the same oangusge on/off for years. I love it.

I do visit the country in question who use the language regularly, which helps.

I have learnt by writing, reading, copying, and finding ways that work for me to memorising.

Also, listening to radio starting in the language, music on YouTube, and so on

All really but not necessarily socialise or do good.

I really don’t have the time for allotments but a community garden might be good.

I get what you say re crafts and I’m guilty of the same with them.

It’s good to get suggestions here though. Some things I’d never think of!

I like to be busy so always have multiple projects going. My current active crafts are Quilting, Knitting, Cross-stitch, and Diamond Painting. I nearly always work on at least 2 of these each day. I also like to read and have word games I play every day and a progressive game on my iPad (Evermerge.) I recently bought a Switch and a few games so am figuring those out, too.

I have a lot of time these days and still hate to see each day end as I always have more than I'd like to have worked on.
