(reposted due to typo in subject of previous post)

Having avoided it for 8 years, there’s a lice outbreak locally. Want to be prepared to am looking for recommendations of the best treatments and other bits of kits we should have in should our DC be infected.

my dd had very thick long hair and I used olive oil and left it in for 4/5 hrs then comb out with nut comb. The advantage over conditioning method is oil send the little buggers to sleep so they can’t run away. Then wash and dry and use straightener to heat kill eggs. Had to be done every 3/4 days for 28 days as Luce have 21 day life cycle

Nitty Gritty comb here. Whenever there was the school email for “a confirmed case of headline in your child’s class” I’d do a full nit comb with lots of conditioner. I’ve only ever found a single nit (twice) so think I’ve managed to catch them before egg laying etc. Also always use tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner. Probably just been lucky.

Full marks. Kills the buggers. Repeat after 7 days

Nitty gritty comb was the only thing that worked me when my children got them and paying attention to the hairline especially the nape of the neck, lovely and cosy underneath all the hair! Comb through with conditioner, you really need to get the eggs before they hatch. Good luck, hope you miss the outbreak

Combing with a nit comb and conditioner every couple of days if you know they're there.

Once a week as prevention/to catch it early before you know you have them if you cba

Nitty gritty comb and conditioner. Do it every couple of days while there’s an outbreak at school

SpamIAm · 18/09/2023 20:12

Full Marks. Much easier to comb out with a nutty gritty comb than the little ones that come with it.

I tried the conditioner and combing but I couldn't cope with it...I just need them dead, so back to Full Marks it was 😂 it kills the eggs as well.

Hedrin Once worked for us. Also Nitty Gritty comb and conditioner every day, then every other day, then every three days etc etc until all is definitely clear!!!!

Tea tree oil £3 in chemists added to shampoo and conditioner and a few drops in between days combed through keeps them off.

Try oh so soft spray on and comb through with a bit comb. It washes out really well and the eggs slide out too. Cheap and easy.

Sainsbury's own. Full marks was useless.
