Has anyone ever done a food colouring bath?

Looking for ideas for this rainy afternoon and I've seen on Pinterest suggestions for 'coloured baths' eg blue food colouring to make it look like the ocean, pink princess baths etc.

I do have some food colouring gel in the cupboard, does anyone know if this will stain either the bath or my child? Don't want to send her to nursery tomorrow looking like a Smurf.

I haven't, but my daughter once had a bath bomb from Lush that dyed the water and the bath itself navy and took a LOT of scrubbing to remove.

I used to have a cake business and have seen how difficult certain colours are to remove from anything they touch (blue being the worst offender) so I would definitely not be attempting a food colouring bath.

One thing my daughter still loves at the age of nearly 9 is a disco bath. We have some plug in disco lights so we run an extension lead into the bathroom (well away from the bath and any splashes) and plug in a disco light, black out the window by hanging a blanket over it, and play music from a bluetooth speaker.

I used to do food colouring baths all the time. I used gel and it didn't stain at all. I suggest making little plastic pots of coloured water up so they can play potions. Be selective with the colours though or the water will end up brown!

I use the gel ones all the time for potions like a PP says and they don’t stain. I used to come upstairs with “magic sticks” (skewers dipped in gel food colouring) and then swirl them in the water to see what colour it turned! One pot of gel colour lasts forever too.
