Despite my username I really need some help. I need to lose some weight and be healthier and feel better. Please help me with healthy work lunch suggestions and snacks. I have a fridge and microwave at work. I get 30 mins for lunch. I work 8 or 10 hour shifts. Thank you x

Do you like lentils? Look up a Spanish recipe called potaje de lentejas. Filling and good for you.

One of my favourite “breakfasts” (I try to skip actual breakfast and have an early lunch) is 3 Lidl chicken sausages (or 2 if they are Richmond), 2 hard boiled eggs, half an avocado, 5 cherry tomatoes and spinach. I can prep a couple of days in advance and the high protein keeps me full for hours.

I make low-fat vegetable soup on the weekends and freeze it in little portions. I have it with a wholemeal roll. And fruit as a snack.

@Ilovegoldies that recipe looks delicious

Soup is always a goid one, cheap, filling and healthy. You can batch cook, portion and freeze it, take a portion to work and heat it in the microwave, or heat in the morning and put in a flask.

This mujaddara recipe is fantastic, it is the easiest one I found, onions, rice and lentils. You can bulk it out with aditional salad, vegetables or protein, or it is fab on its own. I had to stop taking it to work as it got to the point that I had to take extra portions for the people with food envy! https://www.budgetbytes.com/mujaddara/

Hi, I bring fruit for a snack but I chop it up at home first, for some reason I'm more likely to eat it instead of bringing the same apple to work for the week.
I have a food flask and bring in soup, curry, shepherd's pie or whatever I've cooked the day before.
What are you having at the moment, is there small swaps you could make or add in?

Meal prep is what works for me to have a healthy lunch and stop me spending money in Pret. You can make it as complicated as you like, but basically just pick a recipe that serves 4, make it then divide into containers and that’s you set for the week (Friday is a team lunch!)

Today I’m prepping turkey meatballs with a noodle salad, last week it was roast chicken with kale and sweet potatoes. As it gets colder I’ll start doing soup. Snack boxes are another thing I like to prep: mini cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and a boiled egg is really easy, and has protein and fibre.

I'm a traditionalist and like cold lunches haha. I tend to have a wholemeal wrap with lean meat and salad in it, popcorn, veg (cucumber, carrots, tomatoes) with some sort of dip and some dark chocolate. I then have another container with chopped up fruit and plain yoghurt in it. I do mix it up, sometimes have crackers with cheese and lean meat instead of a wrap, or an egg sarnie or something. As long as within your calories for the meal and a good balance of protein/fats/carbs then I'd think of things you genuinely like to eat.

Soup is great for the autumn

In re-purposed take-away containers from Chinese/Indian take aways,
I put a mix of following (cut up at home or at work) that can work well for lunch:

tomatoes, cucumber, olives, cheese, grapes, red or yellow peppers, shredded carrot.
Sardines or Anchovies in the mix would work. Else chunks of ham.

(don't diss if you haven't tried that mix)

Add a bag of crisps if you want more carbs & salt.
