I’ve put my back out, can I do anything?

I’ve somehow pulled a muscle in my back overnight. I’ve had worse but it’s pretty bad. Trying to move around is painful and exhausting as every movement takes forever.

What’s the best thing to do? I’m so tired but lying in bed is surely only going to make it worse.

I wanted to go out for a bit this evening 😭

Get some painkillers and get moving. Lying/sitting still is no good.

Painkillers and walking, lying in bed won't do it any good.

When I did it myself a few years ago the only place I could comfortably sit down was a reclining garden chair. Being in pain is exhausting, I hope you feel better soon 💐

What type of painkillers? I have some Nurofen here?

Do you know which bit is pulled? Ice for 20 minutes - peas will do. Don't eat them though afterwards!
Ibuprofen gel and a bit of gentle stretching if you can
And co-codamol was my goto pain relief
It's horrid I'm sorry

Which part of your back? I agree with others, moving will help. If it’s happened overnight, changes are it’s not a pulled muscle, it will be tightness which is why moving will help. If you can identify the muscles, massage and heat packs can help.

Take whatever you’ve got now.

Consistent painkillers, heat pads/hot water bottles and continuing a gentle range of normal movements - eg walking, gentle stretching, no lifting or strenuous movements. I sometimes find an Epsom salt bath helpful (provided getting in and out us feasible and won't cause an issue) or Voltarol gelapplied at the site (make sure it doesn't interact with anything you've taken orally such as ibuprofen).

Unfortunately it's usually a bit of a waiting game isn't it, and can't be rushed.

Same here. The pain one morning was so bad it made me feel sick.

Regular ibuprofen, hot water bottles on the sore point but the only thing for me that takes the pain away is a tennis ball pressed into it.

You’re quite right, it’s tightness/muscle spasms. In my lower back.

The lovely bit of sympathy and advice here has worked wonders, it’s so hard to think properly when in pain. I’ll take some painkillers and get myself moving a little.

You poor thing OP. The lower back is my problem too. My glutes can tighten up after maybe a long walk or lifting too heavy at the gym and it can take days for the muscles to relax again.
The spasms are just the worse.
If you can manage it, try some gentle stretching of the glutes, keep up with the ibroprufen and gentle movement. I really find a heat pack in the affected area helps massively, especially at night when it’ll tighten up again due to the lack of movement.
Hope you find some relief OP.
