Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just up, and brewing my first cuppa of the day. I'm quite chilly this morning so haven't opened the window yet this morning. I'm going to watch the robin flitting around the garden while I have breakfast.

Dd1's up too and making a brew for herself. She went to sleep at 7:30 last night and is still yawning away 💤

I have the washer on already to get a couple of loads done & on the line before we head out. I think we're going to head to the cinema to see Barbie, and then somewhere for coffee and cake, to mark me getting through 18 weeks of chemo 🥳 They've been my biggest cheerleaders so deserve a treat of some sort.

When we get in, it'll be easy tea of some sort, wash up some cups because the pots are embarrassing 🙈 but neither of us cba right now, & chill.

I'll do some more hand beading, dd2 wants to do her English homework, and dd1 has approx 6 hours of college work for the weekend so we'll probably all sit down here for a while.

I'll probably head to bed early ish since I was up and down a bit last night, and leave them to their own devices.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and everyone, it’s a murky damp day here. It poured with rain first thing so just back from dog’s walk; she chased around doing zoomies with a young Labrador so now she’s flat out and snoring.
I’ve emptied the dishwasher, eaten two crumpets and am trying to summon up the oomph to sort out something for lunch.
I might dig out some diced beef from the freezer for a stew for tomorrow, the weather’s definitely changed overnight so I don’t fancy a salad and cba to cook a roast.
I will get on with crocheting my throw, it’s very slow going but at least I can listen to podcasts at the same time.
Another dog walk later.
i hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Been up a while, been out and found fresh kippers, they seem like chicken's teeth round here nowadays so once youngster is back from football will grill them.

School shirts already hanging.

Have many garden jobs whilst it's dry and not too hot so will try and engage the teenagers with some of them.

Oh and a mountain of clean dry laundry to put away. I can get everything washed and dry but putting it away is my Achilles Heel. I hate fir some unknown reason......it feels like once it's dry it's done as far as I can tell.

frozendaisy · 16/09/2023 11:49

Oh and I want to watch Barbie but with a household of males will have to wait until we can buy via sky. It's not fair!

Just got back from taking DS to swimming. DH has done a load of washing and hung on the line. Toasties for lunch then out to a fairground that's popped up for the weekend in town. DS has some pocket money saved he wants to blow on rides and crap! Then it's chicken kiev for tea for DS, and me and DH are having steak, dauphinois potato and salad for ours, washed down with a new glasses of red and Barbie. DH is a huge Matchbox Twenty fan so I can't wait for him to watch it!

It's on Amazon now!

LemonDrizzle10 · 16/09/2023 11:53

It’s sunny here so the second lot of laundry is just about to go on the line.
The pup tried to give me another heart attack this morning running the wrong direction out onto the road after some bikes; later she tried to round up a couple of hikers - they clearly looked like they belonged in our pack.
Off out to the theatre tonight with my oldest friend - I’m resting this afternoon so I’ve got the energy to stay up past 9pm!

Greensleeves · 16/09/2023 13:13

Well, our plan for the day was to get up bright and early, spring clean the house, get some batch cooking done and still have time for a long walk. So, naturally, we're...lying on the sofa digesting a full English and watching the football BlushBlushBlush

ilovebagpuss · 16/09/2023 13:24

Afternoon @lucysmam and co. Well done on getting through those 18 rounds, my lovely pal had BC and completed her treatment last yesr and although she was stoic about it I know how bloomin hard it was.
I have been up and about and into our little town for stewing steak and sos meat at the butchers. It was busy with walkers and the foggy morning was making it look very pretty. Sometimes it looks very Hallmark Movie about small town romance 😁
I have put the stew in the crock pot for tomorrow and made 4 sos rolls with chutney.
Now having a coffee and thinking about all the jobs I don't want to do.
DH has gone of for paint for our spare room and DD 2 is still in bed (covid). DD 1 has a day to chill but will probably do some of her college work.
Dcats are in the wardrobe and on the bed settled for some serious zzzz.
This evening is home made kebabs and lattice fries and probably an episode of Wheel of Time where DH and I try to remember what's going on as it has been a while between series.

Natsku · 16/09/2023 13:25

Had a nice long lie in this morning, then had lunch with the children and watched Modern Family. Went for a bike ride with DS to the shop to buy something for dinner and now I'm watching him do his Finnish lesson while I have a cup of tea. DD is sorting through a big bag of handmedowns she was given by my classmate and OH is playing guitar in the basement.

I need to vacuum and mop upstairs today but I'm not feeling it. Maybe later. And I need to do some studying on aerodynamics, which feels more likely to happen.

CharSiu · 16/09/2023 13:29

Nothing thankfully I went to a wedding yesterday, it was fabulous. Lovely food, great acoustic guitarist, really excellent disco in the evening and good company but I am thoroughly knackered as is DH. I’m going to have a simple supper and watch three films over the course of the day, just watched Children of Men again.

StoatofDisarray · 16/09/2023 13:42

Went to the market first thing for meat, fish, veg and damsons. Now I'm batch cooking pea and ham soup and making damson jam for my partner in gym clothes with a sweat band on my forehead. Because it's bloody hot in London today!

BearsBeatsBattlestarGalactica · 16/09/2023 13:45

Aww what a lovely thread. Up at the crack of dawn this AM as I slept (badly) on the sofa because I was unwell in the night and couldn’t sleep in the red hot bedroom.

Had breaky and opened all the windows, DP cleaned the house and headed out to work whilst I laid on the sofa trying to regain a bit of energy. I was convinced it was covid but taken 2 LFT and to my surprise they were negative.

DP is home, I nipped to the butchers to get him some lunch - he loves their hot beef and onion sandwiches on a Saturday and he’s currently having a nap whilst I potter about/do the washing. Then this evening he’s taking me on a date to an all you can eat meat restaurant and then maybe a couple of drinks at a bar, if I’m not too full.

Hope everyone has a great day 😊

Silkiebunny · 16/09/2023 13:45

Well done on getting through 18 chemos LucysMam and hope you and your lovely girls enjoy Barbie and cake.

DD has gone out for the day. DS is gaming.

We are having kitchen redone and it mostly finished but not completely. Floof has been inspecting and they are back on Thursday.

Washed the swimming costumes from last night's swimming for DH and I. Now washing the holiday clothes as no builders in today. Only the 1 load.

Had baguette and jam for brunch with a milky coffee. Got a few things from the shops including food for the silkie chickens. Likely gardening this afternoon as its green bin day on Monday.

TheShinmeister · 16/09/2023 14:27

Housework out the way. Third load of washing on. Cooking a beef Rogan tonight and lighting my candles ready for the Strictly launch show x

Andnowshesatoddler · 16/09/2023 17:45

Had my hair done today whilst the toddler spent time with her nana and then went to see a friend this afternoon whilst her dad looked after her for a few hours

lucysmam · 16/09/2023 18:56

We thoroughly enjoyed Barbie but didn't get to coffee and cake - we nipped in Home Bargains for snacks and drinks before the film & filled up on them 🙈 so we're going another day specifically for coffee and cakes. I did buy myself a bargainous £3 pair of pretty pink heels in Primarni though & have been wandering about in them since we got in...channeling my inner Barbie 😊🤣

I quite fancy seeing the new Wonka film in November too!

I'm just waiting for dd2 to get her shower, and then heading up for mine. I'm well ready for my pj's now. Then an hour or so of beading before I head up for my early night.

I hope you've all had a good day!

I went to the village bakery for a gorgeous artisan loaf.
Had to go buy my daughter PE trainers.
Chilled around the house coating my new nail wraps in top coat 😄
Now enjoying a nice wine while the small one hogs the tv until she goes to bed.

frozendaisy · 16/09/2023 19:25

I must be the only female who hasn't seen Barbie now! 👛
I broached the "it's available on Amazon" to get "I'm not paying for it"

Bet I don't have this problem with the latest Mission Impossible......

My pink heels will have to wait, so you are wearing them for coffee and cake.

Silkiebunny · 16/09/2023 19:30

Glad you enjoyed Barbie.

The green bin is now full of mowed lawn and tidied garden.

Now we are about to have a Chinese with prawns with bamboo shoots and water chesnuts and mixed fried rice and sweet and sour sauce for DH and I to share. DS will have spring rolls, spare ribs and chips and DD veg chow mein. She will be back soon.

@wineandmaltesershappyme I do like a nail wrap! They're soooo much easier than faffing about with polish 💅

What’s a nail wrap? Is it like a transfer tattoo? Sounds interesting

Glad you had a good day @lucysmam , i have hardly left the couch, wet and grey here so heating is on.

lucysmam · 17/09/2023 21:22

@BearsBeatsBattlestarGalactica like these . So much less faff than nail polish that you then chip or smudge if you're anything like me 🙂
