Declaring car accident to insurance?

Hello,

Earlier this year someone reversed into my parked car and damaged the car door. She left details and I claimed through insurance. As I was no-fault my insurance gave me the option of going through an external provider so my no-claims bonus isn't affected etc. So this external company found a garage specialising in body works, agreed the price and we got the damage fixed at no costs to us. They then recuperated the costs through the lady's insurance.

My insurance is now up for renewal I presume this all needs declaring?

The external company was a third party claims management company.

Hi, yes when you apply for insurance you click 'yes I've been involved in an accident, then it will let you select whether it was no fault or not.

I would suggest that if you didn't declare it that would be a reason to invalidate any future claim ... they most probably would find out.

My car got hit from the back recently. I had stopped for a car in front to turn off the road and the car behind wasn't paying attention and hit me. I hadn't stopped suddenly either.

The lady and I were shaken up, that being our first accident. She contacted her insurers and admitted liability and my car is currently being fixed. But couldn't believe it when my renewal quote jumped from £600 to £1400.
I've been driving for 20yrs and this is my first accident and was not my fault.
I can only imagine how much hers would be. I'm so angry now cos that's extortionate really.
