Which vitamins and supplements do you take?

I'm at the start of a journey to improve my health, lose weight etc and want to start taking vitamins to help with this. What does everyone take? Also is there anything that works for both myself and my children that we could take to try and minimise the amount of winter bugs we catch?

We take Floradix Liquid Iron and Vitamin Formula - children from 3 years old can also take it :)

I just take Spatone iron supplements. Other than that, a varied "rainbow" diet covers everything else and extra vitamin d in winter. That and decent sleep. Very rare anyone gets poorly in our house.

I take Aldi/Lidl effervescent multivitamin & a ginseng capsule daily

I take vit d, folic acid, collagen and a vit c when I remember but not a capsule as I’m sensitive to the casing.

I eat really well but still folic deficient. Can’t take an all rounder as I have too much iron.

ItWasntMyFault · 14/09/2023 13:56

I take Omega 3 Fish Oil, Biotin, and Skin Hair & Nails supplements.
I'm 55 and not on HRT or anything so they seem to work well for me.

Whataretheodds · 14/09/2023 14:01

I'm pregnant so on all the big pills for that.
Aside from that, daily high strength vitamin D, fish oil (I have ADHD)

I try to get most of my nutrients from my diet. Green leafy vegetables, turmeric, garlic, ginger along with vit D and C (always have b12 and vit C with iron-rich foods) plus de-stress and exercise is what I know keeps my immunity up, but am not always good at abiding by my own rules!

Hi @mumof1littlebun
I take vitamin d and Macushield Eye vitamin (worth taking as it's good for the eyes) xx

Summer2424 · 14/09/2023 14:21

@mumof1littlebun
Forgot to say the Macushield eye vitamin, you can get it from Boots or Superdrug xx

I take Vitamin D in the winter.

Bearpawk · 14/09/2023 14:34

Taking vitamins won't help you lose weight. Are you deficient in anything ? Do you eat a varied diet including lots of veg and fresh fruit ? If so the general consensus is they're a waste of money if you're not deficient in anything

Comefromaway · 14/09/2023 14:36

Whilst I agree with Bearpawk in general it is widely acknowledged that due to the difficulties in absorbing Vitamin D and our low levels of/exposure to sunlight, most people in the UK are deficient.

Yep. I use a Vit d spray as my levels are low. Not sure if makes me 'feel' any better but hope it does something !

Vitamin D and Calcium as I have a family history of osteoporosis. I also do weight-bearing exercise to help bone density. Your body cannot store Vit D so most of us need a top-up in winter (I take it year round).

felisha54 · 14/09/2023 14:50

I take
Vitamin C,D and B12
Magnesium
Cod liver
Biotin
Milk thistle
Evening primrose

PeacheyPeach · 14/09/2023 15:18

Can I jump on and ask has anyone heard of taking Celtic Rock salt? And if this has any long term health benefits?

uncomfortablydumb53 · 14/09/2023 16:35

I take an A-z multivitamin and mineral
Just a cheap supermarket one, but it contains pretty much everything
Also, Lutein as I have macular degeneration

MonkeyPuddle · 14/09/2023 16:45

A-z multivitamin, vitamin D and a skin hair and nails one.

LittleLlama · 14/09/2023 16:48

I take one tablet of multivitamins and minerals most days. I started taking them in 2020 because I wanted to boost my immune system (and have been very fortunate not to get Covid). I do feel less tired and more energetic since taking them - although this could be psychological.

BradleyHillDF · 18/02/2024 02:20

For myself, I've found that a daily multivitamin provides a convenient way to ensure I'm getting essential nutrients, especially when life gets busy. Additionally, incorporating vitamin D, particularly in the winter months when sunlight exposure may be limited, can be beneficial for overall health.
