Is it awful to quit a job with immediate effect?

If it's making you unhappy and causing stress and anxiety? No matter what mess it leaves behind. I have money and don't need another job.

I've done it. I was new, only into my 3rd week. I was already hating the job anyway, but one day I came in and was asked to go to another dept, just for the day. A dept I hadn't signed up to work in, with zero training, experience or knowledge. But they were short staffed and needed the hands it was all easy stuff they'd give me, and they'd show.me how to do it. No need to worry.

Within seconds of entering this dept I was balled at by an angry red faced dipshit to get started immediately. I said I'd no idea what I was meant.t to be doing, and was told I'd be shown what to do. At which he exploded into a tirade of swearing "I ain't got time for showing you shit, for fucks sake, why do they keep sending.me these fucking morons!!" and then threw a crate of something at me.

So I walked off. He screamed at me as I stormed down the corridor "where the fuck do you think you're fucking going, get back in here now!!" I threw my pass across the corridor onto the floor in front of him. He just continued to swear at me.

I needed the money, but not that much! I got another job not long after.

I’ve done it a few times and I’ve always handed my notice in with immediate effect irrespective of what my contract has stated. It’s never been a problem. Maybe for them but never for me.

And that also includes schools. High rate of burnout. Just leave. They can call on agency and they already rely on far too many peoples good will in that industry.

I was sworn at by my boss for something that wasn't my fault. Walked out.

Not at all

They'd fire you and not even blink

They will replace you in a heartbeat so no, it's not awful. You must put yourself first.
